Series 1

To all around him, Blood splatter analyst Dexter Morgan appears to be a perfect gentleman and respected member of the police force but, behind this convincing facade, Dexter harbours a terrifying secret. He is a serial killer.

Orphaned at the age of four, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) was adopted by Miami police officer Harry Morgan (James Remar), after finding him abandoned at a particularly gruesome crime scene. Discovering that Dexter had murderous urges, Harry taught the natural born killer to channel his gruesome passion in a constructive way - to kill only those who 'deserve' it! By means of satisfying his interest in blood and to erase his own crimes, Dexter now works as a forensic expert in blood patterns for the Miami Dade Police Department: the department currently investigating a spate of victims fallen at the hands of an unknown murderer branded `The Ice Truck Killer'. Discovering that the city's slayer is provocatively leaving personal messages for him to pick up, Dexter begins to wonder if `The Ice Truck Killer' is closer to him than first thought.

Emmy-Award winning screenwriter James Manos Jr. (The Sopranos) delivers a dark, engrossing, yet funny adaptation of Jeff Lyndsay's crime novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter. Forefront of its shining cast is Michael C. Hall who takes complete control of Dexter and provides us not only with a clear insight into the mind of a serial killer but also forces the audience to grapple with the wonderfully twisted moral ambiguity of having a serial killer as a likeable `hero'.

Brilliant price for a brilliant program. Good find.

Top show.

It's been this price for a couple of weeks. Was the same price at Amazon at the time (Commented on it on Amazon thread, but never thought to create a new one).
#5
Probably the best two seasons too. 3 and 4 are good, but I preferred the first couple of seasons. Scintillating price :)
#6
This is how I would rate the seasons:

1) Season 2
2) Season 3
3) Season 1
4) Season 4

Currently on Season 5. Which so far has been good.

This is just my rating but this show is consistant and Michael C Hall is an amazing actor. The only actor I hate on there is the one who play Debra.

With you on Debra! Hoping she might finally meet a sticky end. I thought season 4 had a very good ending at least. Glad to hear Season 5 is good, I'm going to have to see if I can get my hands on that!

Not sure how 4 can be considered the last placed season. The cat & mouse between the two was gripping. The end to the season was fantastic too.
#9
2,4,1 then 3 (which was really below par) for me - season 5 is looking promising so far yeah
#10

yup dexters butch sis is really mrs dexter, i'm assuming now m c hall has recovered from the cancer he had? I loved series 4, 3 I found possibly the weakest. Wish Sky would get this as english tv is so far behind on this one yet we get other american tosh almost straight after airing in the states.

The only good American shows are:

Psych
Monk
Dexter
Modern Family
House
Harpers Island was very good but it got cancelled for season 2.

the US churns out lots of dross, but there's a hell of a lot of quality in there too.

heck, the UK's best effort at a cop/spy/thriller show is Spooks, which is a bit like Without A Trace on a really really bad day..
