They wouldn't have as big an impact per pound spend in the UK compared to overseas.
I care about lives, regardless of where they are. Your approach is highly nationalistic and flawed when examined.

Give a tenner upwards if you care, vote cold, sit at home and grumble about how bad your lot is if not.
My reply is honest. Should I feel guilty for being proud of my country? I do not. I stand by everything I've said.
People like UKougar and Callum9999 are the kind of people who are leading this country into oblivion!

THANKYOU!!

We 'give' £8 billion to the EU and Poland draw out £9 billion, they are building left right and centre and wages gone up 50% in 8 years.

We should look after ourselves first and foremost, the ppl at the helm are neglecting the UK whilst others prosper...really makes me sad to be English.
Thankyou!
As mentioned in a previous post look at our own pensioners dying due to lack of funds/heating. they've put in all their lives only for aid to be given to other countries and people coming into this country (bypassing several others may I add) and milking the system with no intention to 'PUT IN'.

Should we abandon all those who need help in the UK because it's cheaper to help people abroad?
I stand by everything I've said.

Quite a good point. Why can't we donate to charities that do work in the UK? Why all the charitable work abroad. Britain is going through a bad recession with cuts to a lot of social causes. We should be concentrating on giving aid to th UK. This is ridiculous

There's so much wrong with that sentence.

- government expenditure was up 9% YoY in October.
- people have genuine, absolute, poverty abroad that would put anything in the UK into perspective, along with all your claims of not being able to afford a quid.
- from a utilitarian perspective, you just unearthed the great contradiction of state-based welfare. It is broadly based on narrow-minded proximity / nationalism. Once you start considering the greatest good to the greatest number, you wouldn't spend any money on people in our own country.
- Great Britain is great, partly for its generosity towards other nations and peoples.

This really saddens me guys. The level of economic literacy is abysmal and it's shameful that many posters here can't critically assess anything that goes on in the world around them other than their own hedonistic desires.
I haven't got timeto reply to all of your points but here are a few:

people have genuine, absolute, poverty abroad that would put anything in the UK into perspective, along with all your claims of not being able to afford a quid. there is PLENTY of abject poverty in the UK. Last year over 2700 people died of cold in the UK.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/energy/8837091/At-least-2700-a-year-die-in-freezing-homes.html

I can't think of anything worse than dying.

Do I think that we should be giving money to countries like India where they have their own nuclear and space programmes? I don't!

You come across as being extremely pious. I don't think it's for you to be telling people that they should be giving their money to charities working abroad. It is people's own decision. I do believe that charity begins at home. I would rather give my money to charities that do work in the UK. You should respect other people's decisions. If one of the charities listed was for work in the UK, I would definitely give them my money.
