Is this just the ladder or is it the hatch and ladder?
#2
Anyone have more info on this please?
#3
Have you ANY information on this - was it on a flyer or newspaper ad? Id be very interested but, as you say, cant find anything out about quality etc. or if you need others parts (supports, fittings etc) that make it expensive overall.

Just had the e-mail too. The offer is only on until Sunday and starts Saturday.

I think it'll be B&Q Diall branded 2 section ladder, rather than the Abru 2 section ladder. Both are virtually the same in quality and build. No idea why they don't have it on the website though. I've seen it in store.

I bought the Abru 2 section from Wilko a few months ago, it was the cheapest place I could find it and that was £40.

With the Abru version, you get all of fixings for fitting the ladder to the loft floor (so it slides down whilst fixed in place) as well as a nifty little hook bar for pulling the ladder down. I'm sure this will be the same.

This is a bargain at £25!

Thanks!

A bit of a silly question, but how do these work? Ie, how/where do they fold/slide up to? in what direction, and how compactly? Trying to work out if the layout of my loft would work with this.

Just read this on their web site re hatch

*Loft ladder only, hatch not included.

Looking at the picture above, imagine the bottom section folded up to me the top then. This then slides up and pivots over the right hand side inside the loft, with a little bit of the foot sticking out over the hatch. Inside the loft it isn't flat and is about 30 degrees from the horizontal, though I guess this is subject to what is on the right hand side, if you have thicker floors/insulation. I had to remove the thick insulation on the hatch to allow it to fit.

I'm sure a photo can be found somewhereonline to make more sense.

This will be great for an extra room in my attic, should be able to get a family of foreigners in there, nice little earner. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it Nigel Farage :p

Thanks boc. Presumably you had to change your hatch to hinge downwards too? Any tips?

Did you manage to make a good draught seal and insulate the hatch?
#13
How much is the fitting fit / pole & hinges ?
#14
Should be included
#15
Had an email with this offer. Not in there website though.

thankfully, the hatch already went down so no mods required and the seal was unaffected. I haven't put any thinner polystyrene over the top of the hatch either to replace the thicker stuff I removed but it it doesn't feel noticeable colder around the hatch when compared to the ceiling.

Will we be able to reserve & collect this? Or will we have to ring a store to check stock?

You can't reserve online for click and collect, you can only purchase in store on the day.

I'd definitely say it'd be best to ring ahead to your local store and make sure they have stock first. Most stores, depending on size, only have limited quantities of these weekend deals.

Thanks, Will give them a call :)
#21
Have been to a few stores in the North East and they are all selling these for £50. None of them have heard of this deal.
#22

#25
Only worth buying if your loft hatch is on hinges which open outwards?

Suppose it is only worth buying if your loft hatch opens outwards and is on a hinge?
#28
Should now be in store :)

Local B&Q opened at 7 and by the time I arrived (7.05) the guy at the checkout told me they'd already sold 2 :D Big crate at the entrance with big signs, so expect them to fly out of the stores today!
#30
first one in at mansfield. big crate on left after door about 40 of them.

thanks for the heads up

For anyone interested maximum height is 2.69m minimum is 2.13m and it includes hinges and the stow away pole.
#32
It's exactly like the Abru one (and the instruction leaflet that comes with it says that you can order spares from abru.co.uk).
#33
Aberdeen Garthdee is about 1/2 way through their pallet (just inside main entrance). As mentioned it's exactly like the Arbu one, and I'll confirm that no extra tradepoint discount is applied (thought I'd try it anyway).
#34
it does have the fitting to change the hatch to open downwards aswell just fitted mine easy to do.
#35
My floor to ceiling is 281cm on my landing so 12cm too big! Guess it's back to b&q I go, I was tempted to open it and see if there is anyway of making it fit (hop up / platform) but I'll just have to bite the bullet and pay £50 for one!
#36
Nothing worse than being 12cm too short!
#37
Mine's in and even with my two left hands managed to fit it. Best purchase of 2015 (_;)
#38
I just saw over 40 of these in the main entrance if the Evesham, Worcestershire store at 6:30pm today (Saturday). I can confirm they are rebadged. They are identical to the Abru 2 section ladder for sale for £40 at Tesco. I picked one up for £30 in the sale last month. Tesco ones http://www.tesco.com/direct/abru-2-section-loft-ladder-36000/210-2842.prd?action=acknowledgement

Question for anyone who's installed one (posted here because the answer may help others)...I've been reading the instructions on the Abru website. It sounds as though it isn't possible to use an insulated trap door, at least not if it's 100mm polystyrene that goes all the way to the edges, as with mine. They also talk about needing a loose fit all round, which suggests it can't be properly draught proofed.

Is that right?

Anyone bought one? I was looking today but couldn't see how sturdy they were extended (none were open)?
