Is this a good deal? I want a good bike, but I don't want to spend too much!
#2
how tall should one be to use this bike?
#3
I usually vote cheap bikes cold as most of them are death traps.

DIamondback are an established brand however, and most of the components are brand name too so this gets a hot from me.

This guide is helpful!

I'm 5'9 so I should go for the 18"?

cheap mountain bikes are usualy a waste of time, but I'd definately take the risk with this one, Diamond back's are a great bike !!! hot from me
#6
Well I think I bought the last 18" frame one!
I hope it's good, it'll get me noticed!
#7
nice price, nice spec, nice bike. cant go wrong here i think.
#8
I'm really tempted by this, does anyone know how much it weighs?
#9
I'm 6'1" (and quite long-legged) - is a 20" frame gonna be big enough for me?
#10
Very tempted.

Lighter than my last steel one! Or so I hope...
Seriously, I haven't been able to find any more specs.

The size guide stated it should just be, but I couldn't honestly say!

delivery is £4.95 should be in OP
#14
doesn't look too bad really and aluminum frame too should make up somewhat for the heavier components.

Diamondback are no longer a big player on the mountain bike scene, I think they are just another name for Raleigh now.
#15
super tempted anyway one know were you can find a cheap descent lock? plz
#16
Anychance u can see one of these instore??
#17
Hmm i'm not sure about this.
What are the forks?
Generally dont trust bike reviews that say "front suspension" instead of actually telling you what they are.
The rest isnt spectacular, i dont think it was worth £250 for sure.
#18
Not that it matters as they're sold out now, but this 26" bike is suitable for men approx 6'6" - 6'8" (as a rough guide)

It was a 20" that was in stock. 26" is the wheel size. At 20" you would want to be 6ft+.
#20
at 26" you'd want to be in the circus.

It depends on your riding style, preferences & the bike. I'm similar proportions to you and I thought I would be 20" but when I tried a bike in Halfords I didn't like the extra reach to the handlebars and the 18" felt better. You really need to go into the shop to try one first.

These Diamondback bikes have been this price for a while on Go Outdoors, I went with Mrs Yaffle a few weeks ago to have a look at a ladies Diamondback on show so theres a chance they will have some in store - give your local a ring before you set off

If by 'good bike' you mean you want something cheap that will make people think 'oh yeah that's a good brand of bike', then yeah this probably fits the bill, but if you actually want a good bike that you intend to use for anything more than commuting, you basically get what you pay for. I bought my first ever bike (other than 2 that were bought for me as a teenager) yesterday and spent £650.. was on offer down from £1049, Bikes aren't cheap at all in the UK, but I'd say you need to be looking at around £350+ at a very minimum if you plan on using it a lot for cross country and downhill otherwise you'll find yourself needing to replace parts fairly quickly.

Why is this Expired? I've just called up my local store and they have lots of stock left at Basingstoke, Will be getting one possibly this weekend, Please Un Expire
banned#25
In comparison to all the £100 supermarket specials that get posted here, this is a good bike for the light use rider....so hot from me
#26
OMG! I went to go pick up, Travelled all the way to Basingstoke from Woking, had to walk ages to get to the warehouse, That picture is very inaccurate on how the bike looks in real life. It's unbeleiveably GREEN! Seriously I wouldnt Ride that to save my life. The colour is digusting, Any other low key colour is fine but BRIGHT GLOSSY GREEN is beyond fail. Shame really back to hunting for a good bike :/

I echo what that man says! If you want a good bike that you want to ride the life out of week in week out and give a real test offroad you should be looking elsewhere and spending a good deal more. If you want 2 wheels for moderate use and have a budget of £100 then I'm sure you won't find better than one of the Diamond Backs on Go-outdoors. I know someone was disappointed with the colour of the mens bike but the ladies bike I saw had a floral pattern on a dark coloured frame and was very tastefully done. You also get the bike built up for you and a service after 6 weeks for free (similar to Halfords) if you buy instore.

Exactly! I hope people dont get put off by my comment but I just cant do with going down the road where literally everyone will be looking at a bright green thing with me on it lmao,

Great bike, Great value, Great servicing! But worst colour in the world to have a bike.

just purchased one in wigan , bloke said there where a few left in the stores room, as mentioned earlier it is a shocking green in colour but personally it looks quite well as everything else is black on the bike, rode the bike for a hour all feels great
#30
Looked at one in store today. Only had an 18" which was too small but seemed to be as big as all the other 20" on display, so off to pick up a luminous snot green 20" from another store tomorrow. There's also a women's version (in a much more tasteful black with flowers on it) for the same price - seems to be a lot more stock of that, presumably 'cos HUKDers haven't bought 'em all.

Certainly reckon it'll be good enough for occasional use; keeping up with the kids on holiday, etc. and I kinda like the colour (in a nobody will want to nick it way).

I like the colour!
Unfortunately, the chain on mine broke the first day (a KMC chain?). I phoned GoOutdoors and they've said if I take it to a store they'll replace it for me, so I shall inform you how it goes tomorrow!
#32
The frame is very thin on this bike i purchased it because my "el cheapo town bike" is on its last legs and my decent bike is in need of repair and i dont want it getting nicked again ( been stolen then i got it back when i found it outside mcddonalds! )

Anyway Im 6 ft 1 1/2 and i find this bike to be a little small, this is with the larger frame. I spent a long time adjusting the brakes height etc and it seems reasonable for the money however i shall see when i have a ride to the swimming baths tommorow morning, also the chain could do with some links taking out all seems a bit loose.
#33
I took mine to the Sheffield store today, and they replaced the chain.
This only makes it a better deal! Great deal and great service!
#34
Picked ours up last weekend, lad loves it as its prety light but noticed it came with a buckled front wheel, gonna see how the aftersales service goes this weekend.
#35
gone up in price £119 now
