Jump to unread Post a CommentThere is precisely zero real info on this online, one thread on Digital Spy says very little even, this model is available at about 135 quid elsewhere, so could be a great buy, or not!
Left me umming and ahhing a lot, as PVRs seem to have been the one most unreliable & unpredictable piece of electronics ever, but I would like to replace my single tuner machine I have in the bedroom, with a twin tuner model, at minimum expense!
The code doesn't work, though - item must be over £150 for it to apply.
So I may have wasted my money? I'll let you know my opinion after it arrives; I haven't voted it hot or cold - yet!
(assuming the 400 is just the FVRT200 with a bigger HDD)

So far so good. I connected it up yesterday (it does have two scarts as is normal on PVRs ie VCR or DVD loopthrough on the second one). It was obviously new in the original box.
It loaded up what seems to be a 14 day EPG overnight and this morning I gave it a test by recording two short timer recordings on two different channels at much the same times, which were successful. There was a leaflet included with the manual which indicated a 7 day programme guide, quote "To receive the 7 day programme guide the unit must be left in standby overnight"
All in all - well worth £55 I would say, from first impressions!

Unfortunately the FVRT200 firmware does not work in the FVRT400. Someone on digitalspy tried it and gubbed their box
The max disk size you can use in a 200 is 127GB, so the 400 firmware must be different in this respect. Also, I think the 400 has different tuner models. After flashing with the 200 firmware they were unable to view channels, though I think the menus worked.
Not really much to add - it works exactly as it says it should, but at the moment you have to accept this as it comes out of the box ie tweaks (as per the link above) are very much not advisable. If I had to pick something that I find annoying, it's that you can't adjust (as far as I can see) the timer programme start time backwards ie if the stated start time is 10.30 it won't allow you 10.29 although you can adjust it forwards. The stop time is adjustable both ways (no automatic padding either but that's the way with all Digihomes, I believe). I don't know if the other Digifusions have the same start time block.
This is a new unit, the 150 you're thinking of is a refurb (although I see it carries 12 months' warranty). I have no experience of DFs so can't really comment further except to say £55 is a very good price.

- The standard menus and user interface is a bit naff - I've flashed the firmware and changed the menu theme and now all is good (see the Philifusion pages)
- The device can get pretty hot, especially in the height of the summer so it does need good cooling. Sitting the box on top of another device or in a unit with little air flow will make it freeze and behave erractically
- The box can be quite noisy when running - hard disk and/or fan noise.
- Picture and sound quality are pretty good - not quite on a par with my Sony LCD tv but not bad at all.
I've found it to be a good unit, but as others have said people seem to have mixed reactions to DigiFusion PVRs!

And if you're not on Quidco this item is about 50p cheaper at 24 electric http://www.24electric.com/detail.php?ProdID=37319901
eh why not just replace the fan? they only cost a couple of quid off of fleabay
I have a FVRT200 (80gb) box and love it, best pvr box i had had yet
Strange, they are the same company, same address.
