Hi Edi,

Good find!.

Wonder whether or not this product is a better option rather than buying a Tevion 160Gb for £99.99 which my gf and I have had a very bad experience with. Bought six in all PVR-801/PVR-1620 between us and all of them had faults (sound dropping whilst one channel is recording, an oscillating noise changing channels, File Allocation Table fault resulting in hard disk drive wiping clean recordings (even though not full nor nearing full capacity)).

Maplin customer services are pretty good just in case there are problems.

Voted hot.

At Aldi I believe..but it has mixed reviews..for some it works well and for others it has flaws.

This looks good edi ...not in the market for one at present as I'm not sure which direction to take ..really waiting for DVD recorders with hard drives and twin freeview tuners to come down to a realistic price.

Hi Edi, The 160Gb Tevion PVR is a twin-tuner DVB-T Receiver, however my gf and I have bought 6 of these in all (four 80Gb and two 160Gb) and they were all faulty. Aldi in fairness were concerned about the problems that my gf and I have experienced with fault after fault. Literally hours ago my gf has spoken to someone at Aldi HQ (who was very apologetic and understanding) and subsequently wanted to learn more of the exact problems experienced in order to pass onto their technical department, and requested we complete a fault sheet upon returning the most recently purchased PVR's for refund, in order for them to look into these problems further, giving possible consideration into removing them from the market.

One thing to be aware of with the current range of Digihome PVRs is that they are not really true Twin Tuners.

The second tuner is only a "view only" one, so you can only record one programme at a time. May not be an issue for those upgrading from a VCR, but IMHO you don't get the benefits of a true PVR (watching programmes when you want not when the broadcasters dictate).

Just think of how many good shows / films begin at 9PM.

Personally for the money I'd sacrifice a little HDD space and buy the Matsui PVRs from Dixons/Currys et al. They are true twin tuners and are designed / manufactured by a company that has a lot of experience in writing rock solid PVRs!

Dixons PVR

There is the usual smattering of vouchers to bring the price down a little.

YMMV - Rufus.

CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG, THE TEVION FROM ALDI IS A TRUE TWIN TUNER BECAUSE YOU CAN RECORD TWO CHANNELS AT THE SAME TIME................NOT TRIED IT YET GOT ENOUGH PROBLEMS...LOL:giggle:

I have the Aldi 160 Gb version and I got it recording 2 channels. However, I lost the signal and had to reboot the thing. I really need an amplifier and/or a better ariel.

Maplin have just dropped the price of their unit to £99 and you can use the £7 money off voucher as well...
