They recently cut the price for this 20" budget VGA monitor, average constrast ratio (1000:1), expected res (1680*1050) but the response time is a bit slow (8ms), seems like an ok deal if you missed out on the FJ 22" last week

Looks good deal to me... thanks yos2008 :)

Note that most 20" and 22" monitors are the same resolution, 1680x1050.

So if you missed last weeks 22" model you get the same resolution in this model, just a couple of inches less in screen size.

Price went up a couple of pounds... Still the cheapest 1680x1050 pix monitor on the market though

And they often have the power to edit people's post counts.

If this monitor has speakers then it must have another input not mentioned to transfer the sound, unless they just play canned musak for you all day :whistling:

This is definitely still in stock (184) when last looked and well worth a look if your after a cheap well sized monitor, but for little more than a extra couple of tenners you could go up a couple of inches and get a 22” model with a faster refresh, from the same site (with free delivery) - this doesn’t sound like much but as these are widescreen units this does make a reasonable difference to the picture height, especially if you are a PC gamer or watch DVDs etc.

8ms is a bit slow?! It's fine on my Samsung 20"... You'll notice very little difference from 10ms downwards, I've found.

Dabs have a Dabs Value 20" LCD with the same resolution for £97.51 inc VAT, 8ms. It gets positive reviews but I personally have not used this screen. £103.51 when adding delivery, though.

I have this very same monitor under a different brand name (Avanhard), bought via here a few months ago for £122.
The colours are a little bit washed out, the blue LED in the middle of the bezel above the on switch is annoyingly bright, especially when it flashes. The OSD controls are fiddly as the buttons are underneath the bezel and it is easy to hit the wrong one.
Worse still, I cannot get my Mac mini to output to it via the DVI socket and have to use a VGA adaptor through the DSUB socket (it has both). The speakers are as rubbish as most monitor speakers, but ok for system sounds/youtube.
The monitor is very light, especially compared with a 20 Viewsonic I bought for someone at the same time.

Edit: Mine is the 22" version

Ebuyer's description says dvi-d is optional. Does that mean it's not actually on the monitor back panel? Thinking about this as I need a bigger monitor for my laptop - and my laptop has DVI-D output, NOT DVI-I!
#17
anyone know what panel this has? tempted by the price but not if for £20 more you can get one with a known nice panel..
#18
just 5 left if anyone wants one. i think 1680x1050 is too high for 20", and no panel info, so i'll pass on this one...
monitors in general have come down nicely in the last year. no worries about more good deals coming up :)
