Huuuuge overkill for most people.
Most quality cards (30MB/s or 60MB/s - half this price) will shoot 100 shots continuously (Why would you want to!!!) with a 7D using JPEG. 100 shot RAW would be impressive :D

depends on individual's equipment and use/abuse but agree its not for everybody.

Stupid really, how may of us go out to the "wilderness" and buy an expensive 3g connection for their camera? I think most of us can wait till we get back to the hotel to upload pics to facebook.

How many of us could find a 3G connection in the wilderness ? I can't even get one in my house !! When I'm out walking I very rarely find any phone signal let alone 3G ..... and you aren't going to use it abroad with the cost of data overseas !

As someone else said, good features but an average camera. I may get one when they go ene of life and sell them if cheap.

ewwaxo
really expensive for a P+S.

Really ? So the fact that it can do all the stuff an ipod touch/android tablet can do with quad core processing, along with 3g and wifi connectivity, texting, apps, direct cloud storage, and 21x optical zoom, doesn't separate it from a normal point and click for you ?

You forgot it is a CAMERA. If you start using it as a tablet battery will be dead really fast. IMO I would like to take pictures from whole trip then make my camera dead after 2 hours of play on it in the car. So it is a very expensive P&S Camera.

Got one. Got rid of my DSLR, because it was too big and bulky to take out on family days out. Full Android Jellybean, so you can email photos, upload to Facebook etc. direct from camera. Mine is set to upload to DropBox and Google+. I log in to my Picasa account when at work to see what pictures my wife has taken of the kids during the day. GPS tagging, so you can see when and where photos were taken. Picasa style face tagging.

The WB850F is not the same. Perhaps the same lens and zoom, but with the Galaxy Camera, you get an Android tablet on the back too.

I was lucky enough to get mine for £315 from Amazon in January.

I just need a decent case to carry it in now. Any recommendations?

I assumed when I saw this camera that it would be hardware similar to a Galaxy Ace or other budget Samsung android device but it's basically a Galaxy S3 as it has a quad core Exynos processor, Android 4.1 JB, 4.8in 1280x720 screen and 3G connectivity. So it works out not badly as it seems value for money when you consider the cost of a S3 plus a compact superzoom camera. I can see it being of interest to those who don't use a smartphone but for many people it's going to be mean a lot of duplicated functionality.

John

And as I said......two phone contracts or a good PAYG with data for the camera

Samsung Galaxy Camera - White (16MP, 21x Optical Zoom, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS) 4.8 inch HD Touch LCD @ Amazon £335.00

Just revised prices, as it's now £335 (white version only).
Thanks to the posters with the constructive feedback. I don't see the point in voting cold just because you don't like the camera.

There is currently nothing else like it in the market and this price is the best price (from a reputable seller) there is. Those who have the camera think it's great. I originally got this camera @ £395 from Park Cameras, only to return a few days later when the Amazon £315 sale popped up.

Great for young families, outings, about the house etc.

Got the spare battery and charger for £12.12 when it was on sale @ Amazon, just waiting for a bargain for the case, unless anyone can suggest a good alternative case?

Nemeus is right - this is a great price for this camera, and one I would have posted myself, in spite of the ignorati anti-HUKDers who vote cold on a deal just because they think it's too expensive for them, regardless of whether or not the price is actually a good deal for that product.

In fact, it's such a good price that my mother and mother-in-law, having eyed up my Samsung Galaxy Camera, have both ordered one from Amazon - for sixty pounds less than John Lewis, and nearly £40 less than the price has been on Amazon until recently.

If you're in the market for one of these, grab it while you can at this price, or wait to see what price the forthcoming wi-fi only version will be.

As for photos, it's not in a league with proper DSLRs, but if you want an easy to use camera with a large display (much bigger than any other camera I know of) and an easy to use touchscreen interface, that can take 64GB (or more) of Micro SDXC card then this is the one to get - and as a bonus you can also use it as an Android tablet for checking emails, surfing the web, playing Angry Birds, Netflix and any music or films you fill up your memory card with!
This is the cheapest this great camera has been since I posted it two months ago for £314.99 and you're correct, people just seem to vote cold without knowing anything about it,either they wouldn't pay such a large amount or couldn't.What I can say is it is quite superb and I haven't regretted buying it for a moment.Heat added.

Cracking piece of glass for the money, it's a nice step up from the mkI for those considering the update ;)

I don't believe the difference is huge, especially considering you'll need an 82mm filter for the mk2 as opposed to a 77mm for the mk1, which is pretty costly. Used mk1s are still going for about £600/700.

Agreed that 82mm filter malarkey is a pain...

Unless you need the 2.8 I wouldn't bother, the 17-40 is a very capable lens (sweet spot f8.0) and the other differences are minimal (I have both).

My £1 instant disposable from poundland takes better photos

My point, check ebay.

I take it yours was pre owned then
Available for £70 delivered from the UK as long as you don't mind the fact that it's grey imported.
I took my chances years ago and it's been amazing.
I got these for £60 on ebay and bought extra 3 year warranty by squaretrade for £11. I also got the original receipt from the seller who bought it for £94 from Jessops. My point, check ebay.
Great lens but the price is easily beaten on eBay. I paid £71.99 a couple of weeks ago after missing out on the £74.99 deal on amazon.
brilliant lens !
