I wouldn't say dodgy, looked up their reviews they seem legit. However, you are correct they are not on the official pentax list of stockists. According to the T&Cs of the cashback it has to be an official pentax stockist, so the £50 cashback sadly does not apply here.

You're better off getting the body for £369 from Clifton or Park cameras, both official stockists, and the final price would be £319. and you could pick up the kit lens, if you are so inclined, for around £60. So in total 379. Pretty close to the price quoted above and from an offical stockist. Personally I wouldn't pick up the kit lens, much better lenses out there for not much more cash.

don't know why people are voting cold :|
dodgy looking seller, who isn't listed on the Pentax cashback list.
Good deal for a well reviewed camera. High burst rate, low noise at high iso, and weather sealed. Poor JPEG engine means RAW is essential for best output. Heat added, don't know why people are voting cold :|
Do you know anything about this supplier and if it's UK stock? If not it may not qualify for the cashback.

Conflict2142
Someone else on HUKD alerted me to this issue. But why is a 256GB SSD so cheap?

Well there's plenty of comments on the http://www.rotebookreview.com on the V200 (not the + model) having severe performance issues in benchmarks and some people reporting real-world usage issues (though no drive failures), with what the community think are suspected NAND quality issues. Kingston recognised the problem, agreed to try and fix it, but no updated firmware appeared and the drive went into end-of-life.

So this drive has been discontinued and certainly before that Kingston appeared to be swapping out the broken ones, but with EOL not sure that strategy still exists.

So caveat emptor if you want to buy this.

Surely under the Sales of Goods act, they have a duty to make sure that the product is up to scratch and honour the warranty.

Yes, but it won't get your data back or compensate you for the time and trouble of returning the drive and waiting for a replacement if the worst happens, nor protect you from the same thing happening again - really not worth the grief for most sane people, if the reliability is genuinely in doubt.

Hey, thanks for the pictures dezontk!

Im really tempted to get one, but my new house seems to not have been the best purchase ive made. Bloody bills! :P
Am I right in thinking contrast ratio applies to how dark blacks can be etc? If so the 1:1000 is so under-rated. Blacks look like that part of the monitor is turned off. Can't tell the difference between that and my KDL-40EX503 Bravia TV which has a far superior (apparently) contrast ratio.

Edited By: dezontk on May 08, 2012 13:37
Oh also, the body of the monitor is probably the most premium I've ever had. It's fully metal, feels SOLID. The screen may appear very glary/reflective... it is only really noticable from a sidewards angle/view. It really does make the colours come to life imho.

Edited By: dezontk on May 17, 2012 14:13: hi
Okay, firstly I apologize for my crappy pictures, my phone doesn't do this thing justice, wish I had a DSLR!

Since I didn't take pic's of the unpacking, here's someone with the exact same monitor that did, although mine arrived with this box, inside another box first.. pass the parcel.., he has the same stand as me, it doesn't rotate left or right, just up and down. There are plenty of stands however that can be brought separately that will do this for around £20-30. And of course there are slightly more expensive versions of this monitor that come with it. If you want a cheap cheap bargain deal then just go without.

Here's a picture, once again not mine, but of the exact same model, of three together, for your reference.

Yes the screen comes with one a backlight increase and decrease adjuster..... but seriously...... that is all you will need. The picture is perfect, plus.. you can always use your GPU software to tweak, I haven't even bothered..... on my previous 24" TFT... I used it to put the vibrance up to about 65 for good color.. on this it is beautiful on default.
http://i50.tinypic.com/262ppw6.jpg

The adapter runs cooler than any of my 3 laptops, it came supplied with a 3pin UK plug-adapter thing too, so everything you need.

This is the buyer and the auction:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/110867210291?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

I spent a good couple of hours looking on all the ebay auctions for these and similar makes/models......... he has the best price/policy ratio.

"Understanding our pixel warranty policy
Dead Pixel : 0 allowed / Stuck Pixel : 2 maximum"

regarding import tax... read the bottom of his listing... says its your responsibility to pay any charges etc.... message him when you've won it like I did ;) I asked him if he could mark it as a lower price. He dropped the price on the official papers to $100 dollars and marked it as a sample product. I paid no tax at all and wasn't charged anything extra! and had a tracking code (fedex) messaged to me by him within a couple of hours of ordering.

My order tracking page: http://www.fedex.com/Tracking?clienttype=dotcomreg&ascend_header=1&cntry_code=kr_english&language=english&mi=n&tracknumbers=529032042303

For such a high quality panel, LG LED S-IPS... which I've heard are used on the expensive dell monitors... 2560x1440 too.... you won't find a better deal with better benefits like that guy has.

The ebay feedback I left him earlier for that screen sums it up!

:)

I received my order Friday, very pleased indeed!
I am still getting by on a workhorse 8800gtx - it's bomb proof but starting to really struggle in games (especially due to my old dell monitor which has a native resolution of 1920x1200...). Generally you'll get more performance for the cash by buying a newer card architecture, as they tend to be much more powerful than older high end cards. Try looking at the cards in various benchmarks and see what you think.:)
just recently had my 9800gx2 die for the second time im running an old 8600gt atm but looking to add something this a suitable replacement?

i was thinkning of adding a second 8600gt and running SLI but not sure how much improvement i'd get i do however have a budget of 100 quid for a new card any suggestion? or advice?
That's a good heads up - thanks. :)

huh? this much for a graphics card, wow..........y'know it'll be £100 in 6 months or less, my advice - take a nap ;)

Well considering the Geforce 260s are still >£100 I CAN'T see that happening anytime soon.

Anyone wanting a single card solution are best to go for this 5 series.
1) speed
2) power consumption
3) DX11 on oct22

If you CAN wait, obviously get a 4870 or whatever as a stop gap....and wait for the green competition in the New Year......
Yeah I was going to wait for nvidia to throw a counter punch but looking around it seems they have major issues just making viable chips for debug before they can make the 300 series cards, only 1.7% of the hot lot of debug chips came out ok :( so gonna be a late Q1 early Q2 at best for them.
huh? this much for a graphics card, wow..........y'know it'll be £100 in 6 months or less, my advice - take a nap ;)
I voted hot, but no where near as hot as the price cuts on the 48xx that we will see soon-ish!
Best card you can buy right now so voted hot.......but surely when ATI have some next gen competition the prices will come down, also ATI cards still not PhysX compatible?

Hi Bellamy_47,
I'm running windows xp 64 bit professional. I can access all the memory if I take out the graphics card, otherwise it fails to even load the operating system or acknowledge the RAM. It was a long while back since I tried it last, so I cannot remember the exact error message I was seeing.
I can try it again if u think the error may be useful... let me know.
Actually, I don't mind buying a new graphics card as I really need the extra RAM. If only I can be sure it would fix my problem though.
Right now I have the NVIDIA 7200GS PCIE, 256MB.
Also have a Creative Audigy SE PCI soundcard. No problems here. WAs trying to get away with using a cheap (£3) sound card before but it didn't fit into the PCI slot. Maybe the cheap one is the non-standard one.
Do you need any other details?
thank you!

What the previous poster meant is that it appears to not be possible to both expand the memory above a certain limit AND fit a PCI-express graphics card. Personally I am stuck at a 2.5GB RAM limit. 4GB and upwards did not work for me. That's the same issue as others found in the HP forum the previous poster listed.
I also had to buy the more expensive type of PCI sound card. There are 2 variants, 3.3V and 5V and manufacturers do not always specify which one their card uses. I ended up ordering the wrong one over the internet first and then physically going into a store to look at the connection to make sure it would fit.
I found it impossible to even surf the internet without upgrading the graphics and my soundcard is using the PCI slot, so if you need the memory and can get away without needing a sound card you could use the PCI slot for the graphics (e.g. Sparkle (Retail) 8500GT PCI.)

This is my personal experience of course - If I am wrong about this I'd love to hear about it as I would still love to upgraded my RAM!

Rose

I'm running 8gb of kingston ram (all available and showing in bios and windows) an HD2600 PCIE graphics card and a creative audigy PCI soundcard Rose, so I'm afraid you are wrong on all 3 counts...

I have no idea why you have a memory issue unless you are running x86 rather than x64 windows? Even then I think 3.5 to 4gb is the limit..

If you can provide more info I'll try and help find an answer.

p.s. I got on the net fine, just needed a driver for the lan.
bellamy_47;4755515
wrong on all counts, a normal pcie card is fine for video, the sound card can be a 3v pci or the later smallee pcie type or usb, all this is well documented on here and other forums, I have read many people fitting 8gb or ram with 64 bit xp or vista, only problem with windows is drivers, difficult but not impossible to find.
