These are absolutely brilliant, Im off on holiday shortly, well October but Ive started to look for those bits and pieces I need already and found this set of scales. I dont know about you but my wife is always giving me a problem when it comes to excess luggage charges.

Every year we end up with a corn donkey and a sombrero. You should see the state of our spare room; its like a donkey sanctuary! If I can weigh the luggage before we set off for the airport I may be able to convince her that we should leave old ned in Spain! Well its worth a try.

Features

* The end of excess baggage charges.
* A portable design so you can slip into your luggage for use on return journeys.
* The scales have a large digital display so is super clear to read.
* Choose to have your reading in either lbs of kgs.
* The maximum weight the scales can hold is 100lbs or 44kgs.
* There is an automatic hold feature that allows you to pick up and set down your item to be weighed whilst holding the weight on the screen.
* The weighing process is easy - attach the strap to your object and lift, wait for the beep and set down.
* The beep signifies that the weight has been identified, locked and displayed.
* Suitable for ages 14 years+.
* Requires 2 x AAA Batteries (included).
* Size: 13 x 7 x 2.5cm.

Too expensive. COLD

Voting cold I'm afraid. Might be a useful gadget for some, but you haven't included the £3.95 delivery charge IWOOT add.

You can get the same item direct from Balanazza for £19.99 delivered:

http://www.balanzza.co.uk/index.php

Or if you shop around there are plenty of online suppliers who offer it for less. Here's one random:

Personally I don't see what advantage they have over manual luggage scales costing a third of the price!

Yeah a tad pricey - this http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1164 works out 1/4 the price but I dunno if it will be better quality

I'm no expert but would you not have to pay import tax? Just a thought, like I say I have no idea really but it's worth checking

OK OK so this is a tad pricey but you're not gonna take your manual luggage scales on holiday as they contain springs and all sorts of things that woudl probably get taken off you by airport security. Plus how uncool are manual scales? If you use a IWOOT voucher it knocks 10% off. Maybe worth a punt I've already bought mine.

As long as your order is under £18.00 there is no import tax:thumbsup:

Yeah but if you did that you'd not be able to look cool with a great gadget in the airport :)

You could even assist fellow passengers by weighing their luggage before they reach the check in desk - giving them plenty of time to remove any unwanted presents or holiday junk from their luggage. Anyway, wish I'd not bothered now - I'll keep my holiday tips to myself. :p

If you must buy a sombrero and bring it home, then wear it at the airport, then it does not count towards your luggage allowance any way.

How much do the scales weigh? They will contribute to your baggage allowance.

If you luggage is over the limit, take the donkey out at the airport. Make everyone else wait and let them have a good story about the woman with a donkey fixation that held them up.

LOL, I've been called a lot worse, not very often though. To be honest I just got on my high horse and though there was no way I'd back down. I'm the same in the pub. ;-)

Have you really bought the other one from overseas? Go one, tell me the truth

YES:-D

A tip for you DealExtrem & Ledshhoppe NEVER put the true value on the customs declaration. But if you are concerned keep the order value under £18.00 No duty if you are going to buy several items them place several orders they don’t charge P+P just make sure that you wait for the first order to ship before you place the next order and so on

same here.... at $11 it's only £5.50 so worth a punt!

I bought the deal extream one and find it perfectly fit for purpose. Weighing suitcases and for taking along on holiday to make sure we don't bring too much back !!!

Yep i bought the dealextreme one to ensure i don't get stung for excess luggage charges by ryanair.

Unfortunately it didn't arrive quickly enough , so i had to buy one from argos the day before the flight.
http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500001001&langId=-1&searchTerms=0742296
£5.99 and works great... but its mechanical and not digital.
I took it abroad with me in my hand luggage ( its nice and light ). Its accurate enough for weighing luggage.

Buy the dealextreme model if you have 3 or 4 weeks before you need it. Otherwise go for the argos model. Both are ideal for luggage weighing and light enough to take abroad with you to weigh the cases for the return journey.
