  don't expect the gift they advertise. I signed up for a free tripod, instead they sent me a guide to portrait photography.

  unlike myself im signing up to get the mags... i also got the portrait photography guide, which if you have read is very interesting.
  
  not quite sure i would want to use a free gift on my £600+ lens anyways...
  
  so yes maybe you wont get the free gift they advertise but you will certainly get the 3 mags for £1!!!

  I got the tripod last time within a week of placing the order...even before they had set up DD - the mag isnt bad either...its all basic stuff and if you have the mag for a while its all the same stuff revisited...but its not bad if you can get it cheaply

  I just cancel the direct debit through online banking, though you could just as easily ring your bank and do the same if you don't use online banking.

  Just as soon as they've taken the pound. They don't usually take it for around a month so you have to keep checking, just make sure you cancel before the end of the 3rd month when the next payment is due.

  Cancelling is easy - just call 'em up and they'll do it there and then. No questions, no hassle - infact last time I called them, they offered me another '3 issues for a £1' trial with one of their other photography magazines!
  
  btw - never had any problems with the free gifts, personally. I received a lens pen with the last magazine trial...
  
  Highly recommended magazine btw - definitely one of the better photography magazines on the market :)

  Same experience with Dennis Publishing here too. I've had a couple of their trials and as long as you phone them up and cancel before the fourth issue is sent out then there is no charge. Even if you have an ongoing subscription and pay quarterly, they will refund you pro rata for magazines you've paid for in advance that are due to be sent. They pick up the phone quickly too. Decent outfit but they will call every now and then with another magazine offer. If you don't want them to, tell them explicitly and they will stop doing so.

  Last time they had this offer, (3-4 months ago i believe), firstly they said they ran out of tripods, then they said they sent an alternative gift (which i was alright with). But up to this very moment, i still email them about it, and they still respond back that "it's on it's way"... for 3 months...
  
  But apart from that, the magazine is actually decent.
