With the Humax Freeview HD PVR being £300 this is a lot cheaper and from a good retailer to. I read the reviews before buying and so far am finding it very good. They don’t have much stock online and were out of stock on Monday when I went to order so I arranged to collect from my nearest store. Free postage also available from stores with stock as well.

Watch and record subscription-free Freeview HD broadcasts through your aerial with the Digital Stream DHR8205 recorder.
This Freeview HD recorder features a large 500GB hard drive which will allow you to record up to 240 hours in standard definition and up to 130 hours in glorious high definition. A twin tuner enables you to record from two channels at the same time.
Regular Freeview channels are also available and you can plan your viewing with the 8 day live electronic programme guide. It also features a CA slot which will enable you to watch pay TV services such as ESPN Sports.
No specialist installation is required - simply connect via a HDMI cable (included). You’ll be able to watch BBC HD and ITV1 HD, with Channel 4 HD and S4C in Wales launching soon.

Note. It can be a bit loud at times so not ideal for a bedroom or a smaller lounge.

It does come with a HDMI cable although it states otherwise in the description.

The latest update has fixed this problem as it now only uses the fan when needed rather than being on all the time.

great find thankyou

I installed the latest update when I first set it up as I’d read that they had addressed the fan issue. However my box still makes a fairly loud noise too frequently for my liking and it has no other components near it so in a more cramped environment it may well be worse.

To be honest when the fan is running on mine you can just about hear it, i think it's a case of luck if you get a noisey or quite fan.
PS: I'm thinking of selling mine for £120 plus postage if anyone is interested, of course i will make a listing with photos if anyone shows any interest.

Is Freeview like Free Range?
Are these made in a field and fed on fresh grass? oO

Excellent price - the equivalent Humax HDR-FOX T2 PVR is £299 for the 500GB model.

Good Deal, good find! But would not compare this to the Humax HDR-FOX T2 as the humax has the online video streaming portal coming, which will give unlimited possibilities. Also the Humax has DLNA/networky type features.

Any series link like features with this?

So what's wrong with it that makes you wish to sell?

ive treated myself to the fetch tv smartbox 8320hd as it also has sky player, bbc iplayer and can stream from my pc. As a simple freeveiw hd recorder it does the job very well but i can't keep both.

Series link is included yep. I got the new Freeview+HD feature called "trailer booking" to work on it too which was pretty good

What did you have to do to get trailer booking working, thanks.

The feature came pre-installed. So what happens, basically, is when an advert for an upcoming programme is showing a green icon in the top corner of the screen (sometimes it will say something like "book me" next to it) you press the green button and the PVR will automatically set up a scheduled timer of that show for you.

It also has the "recommend" feature and alternate instance recording features. Which are good. Do you know about those as well?

...or £319 + £9 postage for the 1TB version so I'd def go the Humax

Is this any good? It sounds great but I've heard you can't do anything untill you sign up for fetch tv (credit card details) not even iplayer. Also the operating system is not supposed to be the best....shame as this has put me off it

Hi guys, simple question that makes all the difference for me. I don't actually have an aerial for the freeview signal, however, I do have a feed from a satellite dish with a quadruple LNP that used to feed my SKY+ box before that died on me. Will this work from the satellite feed or do i need to install an aerial?
#20
sorry ignore that, just realised i need a freesat recorder rather than a freeview+ recorder... d'oh!

Re- fetch tv, yes you do have to sign up for the sevices with credit card details but it is free and it does not cost a penny to watch freeveiw, iplayer and sky player (if you would normaly get sky player for free). I'm very happy with the operating system but the build quality of the box istself is very poor, If you get one from fleebay for £130 they are very good value for money.

Thanks, couldn't get multiroom in our flat so that seems the next best thing.

This is also a hot deal though.

Bought this today from John Lewis - seems a nice bit of kit. Was a slight hum at first and had a green line down the right hand edge of my (Tosh) LCD in native resolution, but did a USB update and both problems were immediately cured.

Bought mine instore after reserving, but still available online.
