I know what you mean. Surely companies must see that people are happy to pay when the price is good and fair. £40 or £50 for a game is crazy. But still some consumers pay so who is to blame.

It's a Steamworks game as well.
It's OK, some of the textures are a bit wonky though.
It's incredible, best game this year in my opinion.
The only downside is that I played this before AC3 and it makes AC3's stealth look pathetic.

Well that isn't difficult and yeah the water colour use is interesting but it makes a lot of the textures look really low res close up and the whole game looks very Bioshock 1.
Don't get me wrong though, as a game it's amazing. I bought it from GMG at launch for around £20 after cashback and it was worth every penny of that. For a tenner it's a steal.
