A glitch? 'cos next cheapest for District 9 alone is £15.88 at Amazon. For BOGOF, lots of other titles to choose from. Hurry limited stock I guess.

Synopsis

Over twenty years ago, aliens made first contact with Earth. Humans waited for the hostile attack, or the giant advances in technology. Neither came. Instead, the aliens were refugees from their home world. The creatures were set up in a makeshift home in South Africas District 9 as the worlds nations argued over what to do with them.

Now, patience over the alien situation has run out. Control over the aliens has been contracted out to Multi-National United (MNU), a private company uninterested in the aliens welfare. MNU will receive tremendous profits if they can make the aliens powerful weaponry work. So far, they have failed; activation of the weaponry requires alien DNA.

The tension between the aliens and the humans comes to a head when MNU begins evicting the non-humans from District 9, with MNU field agents responsible for moving them to a new camp. One of the MNU field operatives, Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley), contracts an alien virus that begins changing his DNA. Wikus quickly becomes the most hunted man in the world, as well as the most valuable he is the key to unlocking the secrets of alien technology. Ostracized and friendless, there is only one place left for him to hide: District 9.

I absolutely loved District Nine, thought I would hate it being a bit against sci fi stuff, but agreed with my girlfreind the other day this was our number one film of the year. Stick with it if you are watching it, I wasn't sure about it at first!..

Am so keen to get this and Moon which I missed, pretty expensive though (not compared to other places, but compared to rental/LoveFilm) given I don't like to rewatch things too often..
#20
Do you get the God of War 3 demo code with this? I know the US copy gets it...

agreed, i suspect both films are like marmite.....thought moon was superb considering there is a lack of actors but then again some people would find it boring as there isnt an explosion every 2 secs

i like district 9 as it goes against the grain of sci fi films - rgeard it as a cross between cloverfield, robocop, terminator, close encounters, aliens

To each his own really, I thought it was good, but they ruined it with the ending. I hate movies that don't finish and are specifically made to NEED a sequel. Same thing with Cloverfield, although the shaky-blair-witch cam ****** me off in that.
#27
District 9 is very good. Prob not worth getting it on Blu-ray though.
#28
Definitely one of the better films I saw at the cinema this year, unusal sci-fi drama with a twist, about 1000 times better than Transformers 2.

Moon I haven't seen yet, but only heard good things.

re: cloverfield....that was the whole point of the film as it was supposed be as though you were there but sure not everyone's cup of tea

Moon is quite different but has a superb plot...i wont spoil it though

though the new terminator was ok, prob had one of the all time best stunts - helicopter crash - prob only surpassed by the cgi airplane crash in knowing (if you can call that a stunt though!)

Moon and this film seem the popular choice so I have gone with the flow. Good deal given the fact that they are both recent new releases.

Good find - Heat and Rep. :santa: Happy Xmas All!!

eh

Opening scene with Wikus.
#37
Anyone get the 10% OFF code to work with this?
#38
I find it hilarious that people are criticising 'District 9' for being a poor film.. and yet a few posters bought the universally recognised turd that is 'Terminator Salvation' and that wasn't even addressed.

'District 9' and 'Moon' were definitely in the top 5 films I've seen this year... and 'Terminator Salvation' was.. well, not!

Doesn't seem to reduce it if you do a BOGOF, but if you buy a single disc it does OK [or maybe other multiples - haven't checked] Probably one of those 'cannot be combined with any other offer' situations..........

EDIT

Yep, that's what it is. If you go to the home page, on the offers which scrool by, you will see a message at the bottom 'cannot be used in conjunction etc etc' and specifically mentions the bluray BOGOF offer............

I really enjoyed district 9 one of the better films ive watched over the last couple of months.
