From producer Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) and director Neill Blomkamp comes a startlingly original science fiction thriller that 'soars on the imagination of its creators' (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone). With stunning special effects and gritty realism, the film plunges us into a world where the aliens have landed... only to be exiled to a slum on the fringes of Johannesburg. Now, one lone human discovers the mysterious secret of the extraterrestrial weapon technology. Hunted and hounded through the bizarre back alleys of an alien shantytown, he will discover what it means to be the ultimate outsider on your own planet.

District 9 was directed by Neill Blomkamp from an original screenplay by Neill Blomkamp and Terri Tatchell. Paul Hanson and Elliot Ferwerda co-executive produced. Bill Block and Ken Kamins executive produced. Philippa Boyens co-produced with Peter Jackson and Carolynne Cunningham as producers.

DVD Special Features Include:
Filmmaker's Commentary
Deleted Scenes
The Alien Agenda: A Filmmaker's Log Three-Part Documentary

I got to about 40 minutes in and gave up. I'll give it another go to the finish and desperately hope you are right.

People have told me this movie is like Marmite; love it or hate it - I dislike both.

Good price for a recent Blu Ray release though. :)

Best film I have seen since Pans Labyrinth . Fookin Prawn ! I only buy maybe 2-3 films a year on Blu-Ray and this is on the Radar now , may have to wait a year or so but this is a definite buy for me .
Very clever the way its kind of about Racism but done in an extraordinary way , I keep telling people about it to spread the word .
If your a fan of Fast & the Furious ,Jason Stathams glorious work or Hugh Grant films etc then chances are your not going to like it nor even get it .

I thought it was more of a rental film than one to buy.But suppose it is cheap enough if anyone wants a copy.

This is a great film. I took a gamble on buying it on Blu Ray on the MyMemory 2for1 offer based on word of mouth recommendations and loved it. Think of it as a 21st century version of Robocop (the film, not the character!)

As others have said, don't take it (or life in general!) too seriously and you're in for 112 mins of great film. Sharlto Copley is a revelation as the lead actor - I can now see why they've cast him as Murdoch in the A-Team.

To echo a previous poster, "Fookin' prawns!"

My joint favourite film of 2009 along with Avatar. You can really tell PJ was involved.

'Christopher Johnson' -lol

I was dissapointed with this film, didnt really go anywhere imo. Too slow for my liking.

I would suggest renting it as not something you would want to watch on many occasions even if you liked it imo.

Phew! Thanks for that I was nearly ready to buy it then. You've saved me nearly £8. Perhaps you can tell what you thought of Avatar as I'm planning to go to the cinema on Friday and I'd hate to think it was going to be a waste of time and money.
