hmv exclusive Limited Edition steelbook edition, only available at hmv.

From producer Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) and director Neill Blomkamp comes a startlingly original science fiction thriller that "soars on the imagination of its creators" (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone).

With stunning special effects and gritty realism, the film plunges us into a world where the aliens have landed... only to be exiled to a slum on the fringes of Johannesburg. Now, one lone human discovers the mysterious secret of the extraterrestrial weapon technology. Hunted and hounded through the bizarre back alleys of an alien shanty town, he will discover what it means to be the ultimate outsider on your own planet.

I really enjoyed this film, it is something completely different from the usual run of the mill alien films...

Totally agree - really enjoyed it. Unlike most alien films where you barely see the aliens, the "prawns" were all over the show which made it great to watch! Amazing graphics.

A friend said it was the film of 2009, maybe terrible is a tad harsh but i must admit i was expecting an awful lot more after hearing the positive feedback and was left slightly bored and annoyed it wasn't what i expected. Perhaps watching without expectations is best

Terrible film!!!

I wouldnt agree.I enjoyed it on the whole if a bit overhyped.

The accents were difficult to understand at times though.

Is this another of those stupid camcorder/camera man following someone around films?
#7
No it's an intelligent camcorder following a guy around film.
This is basically the film that Peter Jackson and the director made after the Halo movie got stuck in development hell over the budget. It’s a great little film, clever and possibly part of a 2 or 3 film series. It is NOT, as many people try to say when something gets made on a small budget, the best sci-fi film for years. Neither is it, in the year of the new Star Trek and Moon even the best or most exciting sci-fi film this year; but it IS one of the better films you’ll see, sci-fi or otherwise, this decade.

You are the resistance! (T4 was lame by the way).

Awesome!

Personally i thought T4 was 5 times better than District 9 and it wasn't great either. The film didn't really have a direction as such, and although some of it is good and exciting half of it is needless. Each to their own though!

If i had the choice i'd pick T4 over district 9 any day of the week.

It's worth the wait. I watched the Blu Ray a couple of nights back and loved it

great movie, granted it starts off as a cam, but moves into normal movie telling very well and you hardly notice it from there.

8.5/10 movie.

Someone earlier had posted something about T4 which instead of writing two posts combined into one maybe you haven't grasped that!

At the end of the day D9 AND T4 are **** films and thats my opinion. Although if honest T4 was the better film out the two, better pace, less boring, better fx, more exciting as films go. In saying that i'll struggle to watch both again. D9 was like a slightly more gore invested Star trek full of moral high grounds and a plot that was jumping around the place. I must admit in saying this though the idea was good however it was poorly executed, some of the graphics were very impressive yet some of the people blowing up was like a budget b-movie!
