Will this play my MP3's?
Yes, you just have to cut them to a master disc first, press it to a lump of hot vinyl etc. Then it will sound even better, apparently. ;)
Great thanks, ordered.
Still got the older version of this on my NAD 5120

£10/m speaker cable? I'd use that for the doorbell Tim!
I don't think I'll move down from biwired Monitor Audio Silvers even WITH an extra driver and larger cabinets; I'd not mind hearing them but at that £700 I'd EXPECT to have the ability to biwire :o

Nice doorbell ;-)

You would not be moving down from Monitor Audio Silvers - you would be moving across (they are the same quality, though the MA's arguably look nicer). Bi wiring - don't see the point, now bi amping - that's a different story, again - you probably wouldn't do it on speakers at this price point.

If these are entry level at RRP £699... then I wonder how good enthusiast grade gear is.

I wonder if these are as good as my aging AE Aegis EvO floorstanders?

How would these compare to Monitor Audio Silver bookshelves?

Hi, Tim from Divine Audio. The 714's are equivalent in sound quality to the Monitor Audio RX6's (floorstanders).

Cheers Tim, can they be biwired too? The PDF from the manufacturer shows only one pair of terminals :-$

No bi-wiring on these speakers. As a general rule, a £10 single wired cable is better than a £10 bi-wired cable.

I don't want to start a "any HDMI cable will do" debate but this thought this HDMI cable from a well trusted company works out as very good value at £22.50 each. Divine Audio are also doing a BOG…

Wait how can optical audio be worse then HDMI when its essentially the same tech in the wires? Its just optical with 1s and 0s! The receiver or standard might be different but the cables work essentially the same; Dolby Digital Plus, TrueHD, and DTS HD isnt supported for whatever reason on optical audio. Also 1.3 and 1.4 ect are standards for the HDMI port and receiver its not for the actual cable, ive never heard a machine needing a specific cable before so that's news to me.HDMI has no degrading of signal quality. The signal is the same on every cable its digital, where as analogue degrades. 1s and 0s are the same always. The only difference in HDMI cables is layers of shielding, a cheap cable maybe 2 layers of shielding an expensive 3.As for "perceived" signal degrading its the picture will either get there or it won't, so some bits might reach others wont and you get a perceived signal degrading but what it actually happens is that it isn't receiving all of the signal just parts of it so it cant display the whole image, this MAY or MAY NOT occur over larger lengths. How exactly do you scratch a HDMI cable? Its not like im going to cut it and tape it back together. I don't even understand that scratching a disk analogy and how it pertains to a HDMI cable.

so, braincell if they are all the same please ask the hdmi.org why they have different categories for cabling as you clearly know more than they do....NOT!

Just to end the debate:

Any HDMI Cable WILL do. You will never notice the difference between a gold tipped one from Poundland and this one.

Simple as.

There's a noticeable difference
