Great machine, great price. Hot from me.
#2
This has to be the best netbook bargain today.
#3
For the benefit of the viewer out there, it's worthwhile mentioning that this netbook has:

10.2" screen.
Windows XP
120GB HDD

And for £205, this makes it a bit of a steal, tbh!

Voted hot.

good machine for the money, voted hot:thumbsup: ,dont forget to go through topcashback for another 3% off

love the way they say "image coming soon" when they have a pic of the very same machine(exterior wise) below it :p
#7
tbh i will avoid dsg so called refurnished netbook,
the battery life must be so short etc
#8
does this machine come with 1 year warranty?
#9
Full 12 Month Warranty

"A refurbished product is either end of line stock or returned by a customer. They have been professionally checked, tested, data cleansed, repackaged with all basic accessories and has a full 12 month warranty. No ‘printed' manuals are supplied. "

Hi can some advise what the difference is between the 4211 -c and the 4211, there is a price difference of £10
Cheers
#11
The 4211 has a 80 GB Hard Drive & the 4211C has a 120 GB Hard Drive, so you would be
paying £10 more to get a smaller HD if you bought the 4211. Strange but true.

Dixons also sell a brand new 4211-C for £279.99
#12
is this a better deal than the acer aspire at Asda?

and if you believe that you will believe anything, the shear number of dsg reburbs that are DOA proves they are not tested properly. Reburb machines are made up with parts from other broken machines and it is not uncommon to get a machine with someone elses data on it or no OS or no hidden recovery partition forcing you to buy recovery disks at a later date if a recovery is ever needed.

Yeah this is good price for an MSI Wind but i personally would never ever buy a refurb from any DSGi store.

Are you speaking from experience curofone, or just chinese whispers you have heard?

Because I am typing this now on a refurbished 4211 netbook from Dixons.

I will admit the first one I got didn't work, but they soon replaced it and this one has been fine.

At the end of the day it has a 12 month warranty like a new machine would so whats the issue?

similar story here, i bought a refurb compaq laptop from dsg about 9 months ago for £215,the best new price anywhere at the time was £325.

when it arrived 3 of the keyboard keys didnt work:x, thought this would be a pain but to be fair they sent a courier next day too collect and i had it back in 5 days.

9 months down the line im very happy with it and would buy from them again but there quality control leaves a bit to be desired:whistling:

It is like everything else, if something is wrong or goes wrong you tend too shout loud
about it. If there is no problem, you don't say anything. So you are bound to hear more
complaints than praises. It happens with everything, not just DSG.

I have bought 3 Refurb Comp's from them and no problems at all, not that I have gone shouting
about that.

End of the day 12 months warranty is 12 months peace of mind new or refurb.
#17
Have to say I know of two experiences of DSG refurb PCs. One was mine, one was a mates. Both had to go back for immediate problems evident from first boot. No way had they been bench tested.

I personally have never brought a refurb from DSG nor do i personally know anyone that has brought one but not so long ago during a gap year from uni i worked in the technical call centre for DSGi and therefore had first hand experience of the amount of refurbs that we use to get calls about and i myself was amazed by the amount of DOA machines that were sent out and were clearly not tested at all. and i also dealt with people who have many other problem like the ones i mentioned in the last post.

I like to feel i have more experience than the average customer when it comes to DSG refurbs even though i have never owned one. I am not a disgruntled former customer trying to put people off buying from DSG and i am also not a disgruntled former employee, my job was only for a gap year and quit to go back to uni so i have no problem with the company and infact my nc10 that i am writing on now came from dixons.

Personally, for an extra £40 odd. I rather go for the "NOT" refurbed 4213, with slightly bigger hard drive & built in sim card holder. So can use mobile broadband, without the need of a dongle sticking out the side.

Problem is that the 4213 is not an msi clone it is an ECS G10L and by all reports it sub standard netbook especially the keyboard

Definitely avoid the 4213.

is this a better deal than the acer aspire at Asda?

Yes.
Bigger screen
Bigger Keyboard
Double the RAM
Better Webcam (1.3Mp vs 0.3 Mp)
Better build quality
Much easier to upgrade (RAM, HDD, Wifi)
XP vs Linux (fanboys can debate this but in terms of £ value it can't be ignored)
Conventionally placed trackpad buttons.

I have a 4211 and I bought my daughter an Acer from ASDA, so I do have experience of both.

You're welcome. I think this is an excellent deal. About £100 less than the much lauded NC10, and all you lose out on is the 6-cell battery. You can get a 9-cell for the 4211 from fleabay for under £40 delivered. No brainer really.
#25
Voted hot, had the HP from ebuyer, at £190 but the video playback was awful! Just waiting for the conformation email on delivery
#26
Surprised this deal hasn't had more attention really

1. Advent is ****.
2. Dixons (DSGi) is ****.
3. Refurbished.

Can it get worse?

Advent is **** even if it is actually an MSI wind which is an amazing netbook with great reviews? My friend, your logic is flawed.

You should follow the thread over at DVDR;-). The link to the battery is here. I paid $55 delivered. This dealer appears to be out of stock, but there are plenty of others.
#33
Thanks Op, just ordered.
For what it is - its value for money hence heat given. For surfing, ms-office and email you can't go wrong. Crikey a few years ago this would have been a great spec & triple the price...

Hi
just been into PC World in Norwich and they had these on the shelf with a note stating ask for more info which i did only to be told that the refurb one was the same price as the new one next to it.I pointed out how this was a bit strange and that as stated in this post Dixon's where selling them for £206 only to be given some bull---- about it not being discontinued ,anyway ordered one off the Dixon site so thanks for the link.

Cheers for that mate - just wanted to check as I had a heap of hassle with a refurbished Advent 4211 I bought back in October 2008 and I was wanting to see if there had been another option available via PC World (at least I could see them face to face rather than getting dicked around by Dixons over the phone).

Cheers, Scotty Boy!
