This seems a good deal rather than a great deal and if your budget is £250 then there isn't much choice and this looks to have a good combination of features although of course it is "refurbished" but then it is a reasonable make.

Sempron processors aren't great but in this case this is made up for by the graphics card which I believe is DirectX 10 compatible. Mind you it's nothing special, equivalent to Intels latest X4500 integrated offering but significantly better than the X3100 (which itself is very significantly better that the X950 and Mirage 3+).

Reviews of this model suggest battery life isn't great so may not be for you if that's important.

A recon from DSG was always going to be a tough sell here.

Horse for courses I suppose, but I was a bit gobsmacked just how hot the Morrison's £250 laptop was rated.

better deals on ebay, still cheap though.

I bought a recon from currys cost me £350. 2 months in the keys started falling off and was told not covered under warranty and would cost £200 plus for a new keyboard so bought some keys off ebay for £3.50 each.
6 months in the screen went and 2 weeks after the 12 month warranty expired the thing died. Had to purchase extra warranty as it needed a new main board.
Sent back to the tech guys who put a main board in which went within an hour of receiving it back so had to resend back to have another one fitted.

Wouldn't buy another recon!!

I dont mind recons and im using a compaq recon from dixons to type this and after a few months use its been a bargain.

mine was only £215 after quidco for a dual core model with graphics card so there maybe better deals around if your patient.

Surely for £45 more you can get a new one with a pretty reasonable spec ?
