be easy on me first one!

Add to basket anything in the computer section, then apply 5% discount code 5COMP then add whatever you want to buy, then remove the computer item and the 5% discount still remains

Added " to save 5% on everything" to title. Changed to a deal, as the voucher code is already in the voucher section.

Nice ^_^
#3
Then you just await the cancellation emails

"Good" to see a moderator support this con
#5
you can also collect necar points if you have a sainsburys nectar card log in through nectar and get points with your purchase

Indeed , as that is what it is .
#7
don't blind heat people until someone can confirm they have pulled it off. Also it's only worth doing on high price items and in which case you will have to be coincidently wanting a new TV or something pricey.
#8
good one, thanks

This is Dixon's own system; it's not a cheat or con of any kind - simply an astute customer using a system designed by a multi-million pound company in the way they were asked to do! ;-)
#12
I thought .. "yeahhh.. can use this glitch to buy those large external hard disks that have been appearing"

then... the penny dropped!!!!!

It is using a code designed for one section to obtain by deceit an item from another section .

Cheat , con , call it what you like , it is dis-honest .
#14
I'd like to see what Dixons' had to say to HDUK if they were a sponsor of anykind allowing this to continue .
#15
5% is the usual discount offering from the DSG group when the offer is on.#

50% off everything would be classed as a glitch. :-D

You are missing the point, you aren't entitled to this discount unless you are buying a computer. The 5% shouldn't apply to everything.

Abusing offers like this wastes people time and ruins it for everyone else.

Well OK, if you feel so bad about it, 5KIT (kitchen appliances) 5TV (TVs) 4AUDIO (sorry, only 4% on audio)

For a company that sells such a large number of techie items....its a sad indictment on them if they can't even sort their own technology systems out properly. Therefore I have no sympathy for them if this glitch works.

They obviously need a a decent Release Manager. Perhaps I need to send them my CV

I wouldn't go as far as to say this is a con or chastise ppl for using it - goes against my personal beliefs though.

Have you ever read so much crap in all your life, all the dishonest stuff is laughable.

I take it everyone that used the RAC code for play.com were actually RAC members ?

I was months before I started using the code :)

Was going to get a varsity card too so I can get 5% off electricals on play.com as well!

It's just a software bug.

If they tested the checkout software correctly (as the OP did) then there would not be a problem.

I disagree. This is like justifying stealing because a supermarket has poor security.

You'd have to apply to HCL India,as that's where DSGi outsourced their "Eclipse" till and internet sales IT system three years ago. Good to see their UAT and Integration testing systems haven't suffered as a result.

Shoplifting doesn't involve you paying for anything. This does.

So is anything I have said above incorrect? Nice of you to justify yourself rather than making yourself look silly with your pointless comment.

Maybe not, but the principle is the same.

You've chosen the wrong analogy.
I'd liken it to a bank that lets someone walk into their safe (which they'd left open) and walk out with bags of cash, with not one person bothering to stop them.

Once again, I'd have no sympathy.
#31
I'm sitting here with a balaclava on and a sawn off shotgun pointed at the screen screaming GIVE ME THE DISCOUNT AND NOBODY GETS HURT,
Purely ironically of course,
Those who feel so strongly about it to take time to type out condemnation of peoples dishonesty for using this GLITCH must have been burning them selves in the street in protest when the recent mp's expense scandal broke.
#32
oh boo hoo, someone tries to share with you an opportunity to save some money, and all you do is winge about it

cheating a website to give you a product cheaper would be illegal

con a web site into giving you a product cheaper is illegal

using a discount code is not :):)

it's that simple

Oooh look at me, I've seen A Few Good Men.

How exactly are you going to cheat or 'con' a website then?

Oooh look at me??? I've seen A Few Good Men.????

read the previous posts then read mine again BEFORE trying to act all smart

my point is

who cares if it's dishonest or not

if it's not illegal so who cares!!!
#38
(To those who morally object)

Hands up who has bought something using this 5% code?

Would you still have bought it without the code?
I'm guessing no?

Therefore everybody is a winner. Dixons get an extra sale and you get money off. End of story!

Haha, Dominos are slack down my way. I have been re-using the same 50% off voucher for a couple of months now. The manager even told me where to find more vouchers (in the local tourist info booklet for example)
