*thats not a pop at the OP by the way more at DSG*

I've got a "Sale" homepage for Dixons, but some of the bargains seem a bit "odd" - for example was £129.99, now £129.99

Thats the exact same TV i was waiting to see the sale price of, WHAT A BARGAIN!!!!!

Can already get it much cheaper than this elsewhere!
:x

No wonder they are so confident about their sale prices as they are exactly the same bar about £10 off from their usual tat. I'm fed up qith DSG thinking that us shoppers are as stupid as the people they employ and it's about time that the regulators stamped on the price fixing practices of all these so called electronics giants. Most of their SALE!!! items can be bought cheaper nearly almost anywhere else, even before their pathetic reductions and they usually stock OLD models and sell at the same price as the new one!!! As per the example about the Samsung 50" Plasma, £798 delivered at Martin Dawes!!!!
#19
Rubbish... assuming this sale is indication of Curry's (at 7pm tonight) then we are in for a boring evening...

£100 off, haven't checked if it's cheaper elsewhere though, I'm not needing a new laptop.

what a load of rubbish!!

My thoughts exactly!

The thing that gets me is a £10 reduction on an item that costs £900 gonna make someone buy it? Surely if you can afford £889 for a TV you can afford £899 and would have already bought it?
The only decent price I can see is for the Panasonic TH42PX70PED at £699 but its not showing as in stock in my area, if you can get this in your area and the GIMME5 code still works it is a decent price albeit minus the 5 year warranty that Panasonic are offering until the close of play today!
#24

Shame it is an over-priced Samsung.

Now get real, nobody would ever pay £199 for that, it is still over-priced at £79.
#25
I am so glad that this forum exists. I was thinking exactly the same as you lot but convinced myself it was me being ungrateful. But the supposed bargains at Dixons are pretty poor. Was hoping to get that dream 50" telly at a reasonable price.
#26
Sale prices just not good enough.....cold
Wonder if Curry's do better?
#27
I think this perhaps might be the currys sale already: http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/editorial/sale

Interesting that the Currys sale for the 50 inch Samsung plasma prices it at the Dixons pre sale price!

£899 for the TH42PZ70 aint too bad especially if the 5% discount code is still valid but again nothing to get too carried away about!

Wouldnt waste your time/effort. If you dont like their prices dont buy...simple. Why throw toys out the pram.......they dont HAVE to reduce their prices to silly low levels just to please the customer....after all its all about supply and demand, if the are already selling plenty of TVs at the higher prices then they would be literally giving money away to slash prices..IF they were struggling desperately for sales then yeah, this would be a naff sale, but they obviously have plenty of customers willing to pay high prices.....sad fact of life but the supply/demand ethic rules over all. live with it.

The thing is the average idiot will be taken in by the money off, its amazing how few people actually investigate prices when buying high value items.

Anyone know if £117 is Dixons usual price for an 8gb ipod nano??

Anyone else doing them cheaper??

good on you mullerman, nice to see some direct action, maybe we should all follow this lead and boycott DSG and the other "leading" electrical retailers. I heard a great quote in Comet today as a salesperson advised his potential customer "sorry sir, we don't have sales as our prices are always competitive" :pwhat a hoot, is that CS training or brain washing in action. I usually only go in for a laugh as I know I can get my items cheaper elsewhere, but sometimes I like to assist the older generation and persuade them not to buy and give them alternatives with free delivery to save them from these sharks.

Cheers for that but again not in stock locally!

It also appears that the 5% code no longer works and therefore the price you see is the price you pay! Very poor considering I bought a TV from them last year in their Xmas sale as the prices were much better and there was a 10% code floating around as well!

Not wanting to blow my own trumpet but the 10% code I posted for Empire Direct is much better than these, the original prices are already cheaper and with the 10% off as well the DSG prices look nothing short of extortionate!
