DLink network mediaplayer (wired and wireless) is only £99.86 Inc VAT from Scan. It is shown as "out of stock", however you can pre-order it. Estimated delivery date is 12.07.2006 (a week from now), so it is not that bad.
Normally these things are sold for £150+ (this is RD model, so it got card reader and DVD drive in it).
The 320RD is now being superceded by 520RD, which also got HDMI interface but otherwise they are very similar.
Delivery is a bit too high, so overall you'll pay £108.09, which is still very good price.

Just had a chat with Scan, they confirmed that stock will be received next Wednesday. Meanwhile, price went up to 180 quid (which is quite normal for DSM-320RD), so hope they'll honor pre-order price. :) If not then cancellation option is still open.

Got it delivered today :) Very nice machine. Next step is going to try it with TVersity.

OK, first results, folks. It works fine with TVersity although some radio/TV stations require mediaserver restart. Don't know why but will eventually find out.

Just managed to upgrade it to v1.03 US firmware (EU is still at 1.01, which is almost two years old). The upgrading process isn't for faint hearted and requires installation of DNS and FTP server inside of your home network.
In short, DSM 320RD is looking for DNS record ("A") for hqftp.dlink.com.tw then it is asking for Reverse DNS (PTR) for it (that's why it is needed to install DNS server).
By pointing to my PC instead of real DLink server, I fooled DSM320RD to take files from my machine. Of course I needed to recreate their FTP structure, but that was easy - FTP server logs are very helpful :)

What I don't understand is why buyer of supposedly simple-to-use device must become network engineer just to perform basic operations? I don't get it...
