Think you had duff batteries or it was faulty. My youngest has had his for about 3mths & it's still going strong (although the noise can drive you slightly insane & the blue light can be very disturbing first thing in the morning :giggle: ) I paid about £8, so this is a bargain

Joanna Lumley discovered that it had a vibrate setting in the Children in Need special "The Curse of Fatal Death". :)

I thought she made quite a tasty Doctor!

This one doesnt make a noise, you must have a different one.

I got 2 of these and the kids love them, although the youngest broke his within a day.

It's cool and all that, but for me it would be just another piece of stuff that I don't need. It's very easy to just buy stuff like this for the sake of it.

A couple a weeks ago I went to the Manchester Museum. There was a 'Doctor Who' exhibition, they also opened a shop selling Doctor Who goods. I noticed this LED torch because my cousin bought one for £10! well £9.99. So this is voted hot

Just had a quick search in sleeping sons bedroom :lazy: & found his. When you press the button for the light it buzzes at the same time the light comes on. It comes with two bottom end bits, one is a normal pen, the other invisible UV ink which can only be seen with sonic light & a slider to raise top end bit. Must be different types, his was standard one from Woolworths. Yep, just looked at Play & buttons & slider are just dummys on your version. Not sure which one this is, but it's a lot cheaper than mine

Just a word of warning- there are two Sonic Screwdrivers out here- this is NOT the one that is selling at Argos (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3690668.htm)

which includes the uv pen- this is the basic sonic screwdriver (at least it was when i bought 2 a month ago form Amazon around this price.

Hope this helps.

We bought my son this for his birthday yesterday. It was from amazon ( got it a few weeks ago with the top trumps cards which were £1.99.)

The batteries have already stopped working and he only had it going for maybe 10mins at the most yesterday.

It is the cheaper one as there's no pen in it (which I thought there was before he opened it.)

I think it's completely irresponsible of Argos to be selling these. Presumably they don't know that Sonic Screwdrivers can open any lock, mechanical or electronic? No wonder crime rates are through the roof if any 8 year old can walk into Argos and buy a Sonic Screwdriver for less than a week's pocket money!
