I don't think it was that bad but it was very average apart from a few episodes and that comes from a Whedon fan The unaired pilot and the unaired episode set in the future (both on the dvds) are much better though and worth a watch. I think many were suprised they commissioned a second season and think that Mr Whedon was too! Am hoping Season 2 is better otherwise there probably won't be a season 3!

oh and Firefly ****** over it from a great height! ;-)

If you like :)

I kinda enjoyed it but at times it was very slow - did improve towards the end of the season, so hopefully season 2 will be better.

Yeah....****** off.

I wasn't entirely convinced by this show at all , and I loved Buffy , Angel , Firefly and Dr Horrible.

It's missing a lot of the well written dialogue that made the others stand out.

It does have it's moments - EP6 was particularly fine - but is far from perfect.
#18
btw there was an episode 13 that wasn't aired on US tv.
i only found out about and watched it a few days back.
i'm not sure, but i think the writers may have made a very bad decision.:?

Worth watching for the sight of Eliza sat astride a motorbike wearing a miniskirt and white cotton stockings alone
Agreed with some of the other comments, I'm a big Wheedon fan, but it's not a classic in the same way that his other shows are. Still enjoyed it though.

Incidentally, for those Wheedon fans who haven't seen it yet, I'd recommend checking out Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog... :-D

One thing to be sure, no matter how good a series is or how stong the fan base, the ****** in suits who decide what stays and goes will never get it right!
OFF TOPIC! .................who said that....

No, go for it! It takes a few eps to get started (Fox messed around and re-tooled the first 6 episodes, they wanted them to be stand-alone "adventure-of-the-week" style episodes so that people who missed the first shows wouldnt feel 'left out' if they then decided to watch it). Around 5 or 6 eps in, it gets really good, and the ones before that are still enjoyable. Whedon is a TV God, and anything with his name attached is well worth giving a go. And at the hot deal of £15, you might as well give it a try!
#34
at times it was excellent but all to often it was just boring filler tv. it did pick up towards the end, and with epitaph one and the unaired pilot being particualry good i'd give it a go but it's not anywhere near the level of firefly, angel, buffy or even dr horrible.

Oh and having dushku as the lead was a mistake(suppose it helps if your a producer on the show), shes not a good enough actress to carry a whole show and was regualry outshone by amy acker and miracle laurie.
#35
Have to agree with a couple of other opinions, i'm a big Joss Whedon fan, but the first season was pretty avarage, it started to pick up during the end of the season (and the unaired 13th episode was excellent imo - its a shame it wont take that direction for the second season though).

It's probably worth £15 for quite a few hours entertainment, most of them as said are pretty avarage, theres a couple of really good episodes, but theres also quite a few really dull ones.

Although it got its second season now (with budget cuts), it wouldnt have been suprising to see this cancelled (and the studio probably would have justification for doing so..this time ;-)).
#36
Enjoyed the show but missed the first couple of episodes so don't know how she came to be there in the first place . Is this available to download (legally) anywhere ?
#37
I've been watching this show and I'm on episode 4 so far - can't say it's anything wonderful at all really.

To be quite frank it's just a very average show with some eye candy thrown in to tempt you to tune in next week for a perv :whistling:

Not worth buying (IMNSHO) but each to their own
#38
has the odd moment but almost lost my will to live after a few episodes on SciFi
ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz ZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz

maybe it'll be better if say Summer Glau is going to be in it (season2?)
- read that a while back so I dunno

Terminator SCC was way better and Firefly was in the Premiership -
Dullhouse is league one and barely at that!

This deal has just sent me reading some of the fluff over on tv.com

They reckon that the boss lady (Dewitt now my memory has returned) might bag a best supporting actress come award season, which seems an odd pick to say the least.

The person saying that Dushku can't quite carry off an entire show based around her (*cough* tru calling) may have a point, but lets not forget its a nigh-on-impossible job for an actress to "be" so many characters through the course of a single series and get them all spot on, some of the supporting cast who've done well (Dichen Lachman and Harry Lennix stand out to me) haven't had to pull of quite the same feat in terms of scale.

Whoever mentioned the possibility of Summer Glau joining the cast also remembered correctly, this is from the horse's mouth:

"If anybody thinks [adding Glau to Dollhouse] hasn't occurred to me already then they have not met me. I mentioned it to her before [Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles] was cancelled."

Anyway, back to the deal: - I'd advise those who haven't seen the series to hold fire and try to catch it on TV before plunging. I like it, but the number of those who don't in this thread alone should be enough to hint that it isn't for everybody, not even all the firefly fans are in agreement.

This show can seem a bit jumpy in places, a lull and and a great one. But the great ones are great. Watching them all together will be the thing. But i'll use Play, it is a penny more but will probably arrive a day or two before release as they account for the post and no spam mail. (always get a month of random spam for using Amazon).
It's a grower.
