Dom Pérignon 1999 - Possible Misprice £85.99

I know this is no way near as good as when asda were selling bottles for £30 a pop, but this is the best price i can find online.

It says on the website that when buying a case its £90 a bottle, but then says when buying seperatly its £80 a bottle, so a possible misprice.

Delivery is £5.99

However if you have never bought from Direct Wines (Times Wine Club) then you get £10.50 off your first order when using quido which makes a bottle only £75.49 which is a good £15 cheaper than the next cheapest place.

I know this is a bit of a luxuary and is still very expencive for a bottle of champagne, but if you were planning on buying a bottle anyway then i hope this has saved you some money.

This stuff really is nectar of the gods, dont class Moet as decent champagne, this stuff is soooooooo special.

Everyone should try to get a bottle at least once in their lives (hic) :whistling: :santa:
#2
DomP is made by Moet, but it is a class above, I agree.
#3
It may be good but how can you justify spending nearly £90 on a bottle of what is essentially sparkling wine - Champagne in general is way overpriced and way over hyped.

Moet is liquid dogbreath, but DP is very nice (although that sounds very smutty).

Lambrini is of course much better VFM than champagne, and has the same effect - a headache the following morning! :santa:

they made a valid point...i love champagne and decent sparkingly wine but some is way overpriced...how about this bargain...

http://www.harrods.com/HarrodsStore/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=000000000001468685&Breadcrumb=foodhall%2ffoodhallwines%2fwinechampagne

youd have to be insane to pay that even if you are a multi millionaire...

cristal champers is way overpriced - they are just piggybacking onto the rap/football marketing aspect, so therefore they can charge crazy money (and sell it to stupid people)

Yes, Royals, and take note of the last line of the description: grosscontents.

They even admit it's gross :P

Seriously, Dom is gorgeous. Last had some in October with oysters. Yummy.
#11
I use this stuff to bath in - the bubbles are lovely on the skin
#12
That Harrods stuff is like 7up, ordered 10 bottle just to give it a whirl will spray most of it around in the party. Now where did I put my keys for my pimped out nova, time to get my bling and out we go - shocking price!

Can't help but laugh at that comment, particularly from someone on a board like this. Utter rubbish

Using the voucher from this thread http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=119191 you can get a bottle for £55.99 - quidco.
#15
It's a nice drop of shampoo but I would prefer to spend my money on 3 or 4 other bottles rather than blowing my wad on this one bottle.

Too right, £4.95 delivery for 1 bottle of champagne........:whistling:

Who's year of birth has the most expensive vintage for a dom perignon then?
http://www.wine-searcher.com/wine-select.lml

At 1971 mine comes in at £360 a bottle, or a Rose (?) at £641.52 a bottle!
The OH at 1964 beats me with £525 a bottle, but no rose available:p

Edit: You can actually find the 1999 cheaper through the above site :)

Thanks for the site, very useful. Although i have gotten a bottle for £55.99 delivered now, which is cheaper than any of the sites listed at wine searcher

Your thread has actually reminded me a champagne i had once, which i found to be the best tasting - but i can't remember it's name.
It was in a dark bottle (green?) and was hand painted - like white flowers, or something like that.
Got any idea?

Sounds like what Christina Aguililiillmalaria has in her advert.

96 Points by Parker! As good as the 1996 vintage!

I wish I had money. I have had a few Doms in my time and they are nice, but Krug is the King of bubbly. FYI Krug Clos du Mesnil is like £500+ per bottle.

For cheap ones, the Bollinger Special Cuvee is the best bang for the buck. Serious body and power!

I agree with strange lad - Moet is overpriced rubbish, designed to be sold to the masses to make them think that as its champagne they must be drinking something good.

Champagne is just the made by the same process as cava and other sparking wines from other regions - it can only be called champagne if its from the Champagne region, and just because its grown somewhere good doesnt automatically make it good.:geek:

PS Lambrini is for little girls which is why Dirtysanchez likes it so much :p

I agree that non-vintage Moet is like fizzy dishwater, but I had a bottle of vintage Moet in a restaurant in Prague a few nights ago and it was one of the best champagnes I've had, and believe me I've tried 'em all, Krug, Dom, Cristal etc. etc.

Oh yes.

Definitely go to Kampa Park (and have the duck fois gras starter) at the Lesser Town side of the Charles Bridge.

Definitely go to Bellview at the Old town side of the Charles Bridge.

If you can still afford to, go to Pravda on Pariska (where all the high fashion shops are off the Old Town Square).

Try and go for lunch on the roof garden at the Hotel U Prince (yes they have heaters).

There are loads of other places, but they would be my first stops.
