Three floodlit courts make tennis a big hit here. The water-based options stack up, with windsurfing, sailing and kayaking available.
You can sign up for dance classes or try Spanish lessons. You can also fritter time – and pesos – along Caribbean Street, a parade of rainbow-bright shops shared by Riu Merengue and Riu Bachata.

Most mealtimes play out in the 2 main buffet restaurants. The breakfast spreads include eggs and omelettes made to order, while the lunch and dinner menus take you on a whistlestop world tour.

Head to Caribbean Street, the little strip next to the hotel, and you’ll find Renova Spa. It does a whole host of massages, not to mention a mean chocolate body wrap, plus treatments like manicures and pedicures.
As well as a spa, Caribbean Street – right by the hotel – is home to a well-equipped gym.

Live music and shows provide the after-dinner entertainment. For a late night, there’s a nightclub and, over at Riu Bachata, a casino.
Kids are really well catered for here. Activities often stretch into the evening for the 4 to 12 crowd, plus there’s a mini disco for the little ones.

Riu Merengue has a trio of pools edged with thatched parasols. You can have lunch by the water, with paella and fruit punch proving popular. Plus there’s a separate pool for kids.
Head over to Riu Bachata and your choice of pools immediately increseas. Both of its pools are big, but special mention goes to the one with a smart swim-up bar.
