Donnie Darko + 3 more films only £2! That's 25p a film!

I can't for the life of me remember the other films (all B movies!) but hey Donnie Darko for £2 is good.

Available instore at Instore (if that makes sense!) - also known as Poundstretcher.

...my tragic maths! It's 50p a film ;)

I think that might work out a 50p a film - but even so, I'm not complaining!! I really enjoyed Donnie Darko :-D

If Donnie's the only one you really want (& as we don't know what the others are it's a little hard to say), Woolies had the Director's cut @ £2 INSTORE when I picked it up last weekend, which was a little strange as online it's £14.99 for the director's & £4 for the standard?!?!?!
(Certainly never went throught the till @ 15 quid)

donny darko is a top movie:thumbsup:
agreed...worth the £2 just for that

Donnie Darko is my fav movie ever, but I would watch the original before you watched the Directors Cut.

Well worth it for just this film on it's own.

There's a ebay listing with that dvd featuring 4 films-the other three are

Timecop-jean claude van damme
Car trouble-julie walters
Transformers the movie-animation featuring the voice talents of leonard nimoy, orson welles and eric idle!

I'm sure you could prove what you've said or I'd be asking for a drugs test Ern!!! Who on earth thought these 4 combined would set the world on fire?!?!?

I also found a listing on streets-online.co.uk for the director's cut and three other films but that appeared to be a boxset which presumeably this isn't. (They were different films.)

Anything partnered with Transformers: The Movie is worth buying... It's the single greatest piece of cinema history the world has ever seen.

Timecop is quite enjoyable, and Transformers is also becoming something of a cult classic (with Orson Welles as a voice no less - and obviously the cgi/live version about to be released). Most people agree that the original donnie darko is better than the directors cut - its more efficient and less distracting. What a weird combo though. These come as 2 films on each of 2 discs.

But this offer is wasted on your good self as I'm sure you have the 6-disc director's cut of Transformers:The movie!!!
Extras inc - some little kid getting his finger caught in a fold up truck & running around screaming like something from Home alone, Director's commentary saying "& then the toy company said we need more Optimus Prime because he's not selling well" & finally a behind the scenes documentary about the real life Transforming robot/car/planes that this 'Based on a true story' film was based on!!!!

rabbitmoon - "Most people agree that the original donnie darko is better than the directors cut - its more efficient and less distracting."

I don't know if this is correct or not as I don't have both versions to compare but my brother has both versions as he said there are extras on the Reg length version that are not on the Director's cut?!?!?

From what I've read the director's cut was more to do with music than anything else, he didn't have the budget for all the tracks he wanted first time around.

The soundtrack WAS changed/remastered but, according to HMV, running time is 108 mins on the standard version & 133 on the Director's version....how long are the tracks that were added?!?!?!

HMV - "Director's Cut Of The Film - Featuring 25 Minutes Of Deleted, Extended And Brand New Footage - With Remastered Picture And A Rescored Soundtrack (Disc Is Encoded At Maximum Bit Rate)"

this man does not lie. I was suprised how good this was when I saw it again a year or so ago. (With faint reccolections of seeing it as a kid)

Dunno, but he was heavily focused/influenced by having the 'perfect' soundtrack and I guess adding lots of tracks must also add directly to screen time, but the general concensus is they don't add anything to the film. Sometimes imposed constraint is a good thing.

Another vote for the transformers. I was amazed by how much my kids enjoyed it.

original lets you draw your own conclusions a lot more than the directors cut which tries to guide you down a set path through overlays of the time travel book.

also quite a few extra and extended scenes in the directors cut, and (if I recall correctly) echo and the bunnymen aren't in the starting sequence, which I thought fit the movie perfectly
#22
the directors cut gives things away a bit more so it isn't as mysterious as the original.

And everything davem123 said. Echo and the Bunnymen was perfect in my opinion. INXS just wasnt, even though that was the originally intended song.

I don't have the collectors edition yet :( I only have the VHS at the moment as I quickly returned the original DVD release as it was shocking.
I do have the official soundtrack on CD though, I finally found it in California a couple of years ago.

Oh yeah...
Best sound effect ever: The 'transforming' sound
Best cartoon character voice ever: Soundwave
