I had to check this thread as i know as many people who love this film as those who hate it. Either way lots of people have seen and have an opinion about it.
It got me thinking whether or not there is a film that defines 'cult' any more than this?
Bit harsh to say he's only made one decent movie... he's been in a few decent / good movies
Source Code
Brokeback Mountain
Jarhead
Brothers
He's not a great actor by any means... but he's certainly a good jobbing actor, always watchable and is obviously well enough respected by some decent producers and movie companies....

Zodiac too. :)
Heat added. But not in a perverse way. :-)
Most of the people who've seen it have no idea what it's about. The majority of people who like it still don't get it - they just think it looks and sounds "cool".
Mind you, it's not as bad as the directors 2nd movie - Southland Tales. Jeez that was even worse!!

The plot is actually pretty simple if you pay attention to it. I watched it when I was relatively young and I understood it pretty well. Not going to post an explanation here because I don't want to spoil it for anyone else whos going to buy it but hasnt watched it :p As for the plot been rubbish because it involves time travel that no one can explain - you've basically just described a huge chunk of anything sci fi as rubbish, including Doctor Who.

What gives you any right to dismiss the mental capacity / ability of other folk to enjoy / understand a movie?? YOU may not like it... but please don't go around telling all and sundry they won't understand it and will only watch it because it's " cool " !! Just a BIT presumptuous of you to make such a statement ............
Anyway.... at £1, it's not going to damage the bank balance of anyone who fancies buying it... let them form their own opinions, maybe, instead of telling me they won't understand it or " get it "??

It's normally offensive to call someone a mong, but in this case...

Actually, I think it is always offensive to call someone a mong.
Anyhow, I liked Donnie Darko, but then I'm shallow and like all of Jake's films; probably for the eye candy! ;)
