I got interested in buying a pc from Cube247 after looking at their website. I did a search for a review on this pc and found this: http://www.trustpilot.co.uk/review/www.cube247.co.uk. Has anyone on here bought from this company? The review is pretty damning and I'm not sure if I should buy from them.

last time there was a deal for these guys it disappeared off here without a trace, was a bit odd.

Positives:
Price
Decent CPU
Lots of storage
Lots of RAM

Negatives:
No O/S
Brand of HDD and RAM unknown
PSU looks a bit dodgy, doesnt say what wattage and its a poor make

But defo hot for the price, just be aware if you want to stick a dedicated graphics card in you may need to upgrade the PSU.

Wow - read those reviews first

15x USB2 ports!

If you don't need them there are plenty of modern cheap lappies around this price. Was expecting a cute little box, like the nettop I recently missed :(

all the postive reviews seem to be written by their own employees?

after reading all the reviews, i would not touch this company with a bargepole

Expired anyway.

the whole website is down not just this machine

Yeah I have bought a computer off them and it's pretty good i put my own OS on. everything is running smoothly u save alot of money getting this and I was actually meant to get it in the case shown in the picture but received it in the gaming case so it was upgraded for nothing. The only problem is they made it after I placed my order so it took about 15days to arrive, it did eventually come though :)

i wouldnt rule this out yet, the whole website has errors, could still be a great deal!!
#11
Unless if you have a decent graphics card, there isn't a lot you can do with all that RAM. "True Power PSU" isn't saying much so I'd bet it's weak, you'll probably need a PSU too.

Also, if I'm reading this right, this thing has FIFTEEN USB PORTS. Wow. And the 5.1 audio chipset seems like a nice bonus.

Can't see it on the page for more details on it though so not much to go on.

we're back!

£10 CIT case, £40 Biostar mobo, unknown (most likely CIT rubbish) PSU and 3 months to fix if it fails (certainty within 3 years). What ridiculous costs/parts/postage do you have to pay?

DDR3 is cheap, there is really no point to shove in 8GB and have pretty useless slowest out there DX10 IGP. Better off with 4GB and any £30 low level dedicated solution or even IGP from AMD or Nvidia.

15 USB2 ports when mobo supports only 8 - how?
#14
Can i just ask what "Premium Branded" is?
#15
I know that if you search around on the web you'll hear horror stories about most companies, but I think you'd be mad to hand over any cash to these chancers.
#16
stay away from this retailer. They are dodgy!
#17
8 gb and 15 USB ports is just a tad over the top!!!

Just out of interest want to upgrade 2gb to 4gb DDR3 RAM - ballpark figure?

http://****SuperSpecials/Other+products/Gladiator+Core+i3+540+Pre-Built+Overclocked+Bundle+?productId=43812

free delivery.
pre built.
RTB warrany 1 year.

much better/known quality parts.

that's actually a fiver or so cheaper than buying the parts separately and doing it yourself AND it' pre overclocked to 4.4ghz.

To that I'd add the samsung spinpoint 1tb drive for £38.

Xigmatek case for £29

PSU 550w arianet £26, or go branded - depending on what you want it for.

Sony dvd r/w £17

smidge over 300 quid but you know what you're getting ad who from.

I bought from this company, I haven't had any problems so far, touch wood, the system worked fine, no problems with anything. I did get less USB ports than I expected (not 15). Took longer to arrive than I thought (15 days), worht bearing in mind that you only get a temp Os and MS office but as long as you don't mind that its good. I found the sales staff knowledgable and helpful. The system I bought flies!

I recently bought a system off this company. On the whole I thought they were good, the sales staff advised well, the system works well (touch wood, no problems for me). I did get less USB ports than expected, i.e. not 15. It took longer to arrive than expected (15 working days). You can get a full spec list for any system on the main site and if you need more details the sales staff provided me with more. I did read all the comments on the web but like I say, I had no problems and my system is really good!
#22
has anyone bought?
what was your experience?
#23
I've come across some of these machines. Whilst the main specs tend to be good (CPU, HDD Size and RAM amount) they use the cheapest motherboards available and even worse cases and PSUs. Stay well clear. The premium brand stuff they say is just the standard stuff available that they can get cheaply in bulk. all the AMD machines I came across come with a board with 100Mbps ethernet rather than 1Gbps and I remember only had 1 or 2 expansion sockets (PCI/PCI-E) and dont think it had a PCI-E for graphics.
