Specs say it's 3g so should be compatible.
It's only asking you to select a sim for your preferred allowance for if/when you want to top up

I tried to buy a phone in store on Sunday (this was my preference, they didn't have it, so I went with the alcatel 20.45x) - the store wanted me to show a Pay & Go sim or buy a £10 top up - walked out, bought it on my phone & collected it from the same store. They didn't have a clue (told me phone was £5 more than website - not sure if it actually was, as I didn't get as far as purchasing in store).

One word of warning with click & collect; you must have a 4 digit reference which is only in the confirmation email. It is not in the downloaded confirmation & further both that & the site say that all you need is the order reference (which is in the downloaded confirmation) and the card you used (neither of which I actually needed - surname & 4 digit collection code).

Really? Wish I had gone for this - the Alcatel cannot be unlocked easily & I went and bought a grade A Doro similar to this for £15! :(

EDIT I do NOT think this has any unlock options on eBay - the €2.99 item has a list of models that does NOT include this.

Anyone know if a Pay & Go phone just bought can be unlocked for free by o2 if you have a pay monthly contract?

That's just for the sim pack , you won't get charged anything more than £12.99.

Can this be used on the three network

I have just found this info.

The network was called Three because it only operates over 3G signals, because of this you need to make sure the phone you are looking to buy supports 3G network capabilities. 3G has faster network transmission and is often known as mobile broadband for mobile phones and more recently available in products such as the iPad and USB Dongles for laptops etc.

When choosing a phone that will work with the Three network you need to look at the phone specification under network/connectivity. Some specification will state something which will be a little more straight forward such as:

2G: 850/900/1800/1900 Mhz (Quadband)
3G: 900/2100 (Dual-band) - If you see this you know the phone will work with the Three network as it states 3G network support

So am i right in thinking if this phone is unlocked then it will work on the three network?

Specs here: https://www.doro.co.uk/doro-5516.html.

More info here https://www.doro.co.uk/blog/cpw:

The 5516 is a new Doro device and is a great value bar phone with 3G connectivity.

That means this phone will work on all four of the UK's networks: EE, Vodafone, O2 and Three; and those who piggyback on them.

Ordered mine online, selected one of the £10 sim bundles and paid £12.99 total. The following day I received a text to say it was ready to pick up at my nominated shop. No problems in the shop, it was ready for me in a bag, phone and separate PAYG sim package. No awkward questions from the staff, simple. But as stated in a previous comment you do need to know the collection reference number which is stated in their order confirmation email.
Ordered a Giffgaff sim online which has worked without issues.
I can see it being a nice phone for my nearly 90 year old Mother, no frills and I've disabled the web browser as this was impossible to operate with a numeric keypad. Also, not great for texting, again due to a numeric keypad.
One nice feature if that all the contacts can be set up and synced to the phone using a Doro online account

Seems a nicely made phone, no complaints for the money.

This is now dead, and many of the Doro websites offering free unlocking don't list the 5516 sadly..
Even the gsm forum don't mention the 5516, too new I guess.

Doesn't look like the codes are available for this phone yet.

They can't unlock this... I got the reply from them...any other unlocking options?

Looks like we will have to wait a while for the unlock codes to become available.

Did anyone pick up one of these at £12.99 and subsequently not want it? I would be happy to refund you and pay postage.

I was tempted to get one of these a while ago. But it looks like the only way to get them unlocked is via O2 (info above) and paying £15!
