Irreverent, tangental, highly intelligent and irrepressibly exuberent, Jonathan Ross is our best-known television 'Personality' for good reason and his take on growing up, and the world around him, is laugh-out-loud funny. With stories that range from discovering B-movies to fashion, from diets to childhood sweetshops, favourite presents and from sex to pets (and back to sex) he tells his story of his life with all his customary energy, wit, lasciviousness, self-deprecatory humour and random meandering, revealing that in short trousers he was as cheeky, vain, and frankly ridiculous at times, as he is in those suits...

... I never knew PLAY did DOTDs

Very appropriate title considering todays news about Jonathon Ross's suspension. :D

"Why Do I Say These Things?"

Exactly. I think he might want to engage his brain a bit more in future.

Good price for this book tho!

Nice timing !

AT this price we could all buy a copy each go down to BBC studios and make a big pyre ... then maybe that will make them see sense and sack them both :whistling:

... Gotta vote it hot for that reason alone LOL ..... talk about PLAY getting rid of unwanted stock.

Didn't they have about 2 complaints until the tabloids herded the sheep to the telephones - you have got to laugh at the 'public'
#10

Does anyone else think that the complaints thing is not the point.....I think the real issue is, if someone rang me up and left that kind of message on my phone, I'd report it to the police to investiage and find out who it was......it just so happens that in this case, we know who left the message! Press charge's on both of them Manuel, with abusive phone calls!

There wasnt anything threatening and malicious about it tho, afaics. If i phoned the police every time i got a stupid drunk text (/or call) the police would no doubt be alot ruder to me.

If TV stars got suspended every time they made a joke in bad taste, channel 4 would just be running repeats of friends over and over by this stage.

Agree - it was a stupid prank that wasn't that funny - it wasn't threatening or malicious - once again the tabloids have stirred the sheep - BAAA!

I'd rather nick it and pay the fine for shoplifting than fill his wallet any more than I already do. He could sell a billion of these and it still wouldn't cover his over-inflated ego.

You can't blame them taking of a situation that they've been forced into.

Back on topic though... Sh!te deal, voted cold!

Yeah once the tabloids mobilise the masses you knew it would get out of hand. I listened to see what all the fuss was about on YouTube, yes they crossed the line with the grand daughter remark, but it was actually really funny, and I hope this isnt the end of them, theyre very witty guys. Anyone would thing the word "F***" had never been broadcast before!

Anyone who takes the tabloids at face value needs their head read

Love Russel's statement

He continued: "I would like to remind the Daily Mail [sic] that while it is a bit bad to leave a swearword on Andrew Sachs' answerphone, what's worse - leaving a swearword on Andrew Sachs' answerphone or tacitly supporting Adolf Hitler when he took charge of the Third Reich?

"When he became chancellor in the old late 1930s the Daily Mail printed a letter from a lord going 'this Hitler might be all right'. And once old Blackshirt Oswald Mosely came to prominence in this country the Daily Mail went, 'Hurrah for our blackshirted chums'."

Brand then went on to invite listeners to text into the show. "On one hand you have upset Manuel, on the other you have millions and millions of dead people supported by a powerful media institution," he said.

"It's up to you the listener to decide which is worse. Offending Manuel, for which I apologise, or is it worse to tacitly support the death of millions?"

You're all a load of sheep - BAAAAA!

God, just reading the comments on BBC Have Your Say - seems the tabloids have really done well, seems somewhat ironic that Mary Whitehouse would be very proud of them now. Where's Amy Winehouse actually, she could take some heat off and feed the masses some more drivel to get worked up about!

The granddaughter had a link to the clip on the website for her group the ‘Satanic Sluts’ and seemed to be happy for the mention on the show until a few days ago and she has only now changed her stance and all of a sudden become outraged after the Sun have paid her for her story. This entire thing has been blown totally out of proportion. It is a joke that this is the best thing we can find to talk about in the papers, news and even parliament when there are so many other important things going on in the world that are getting little to no coverage.

Reinstate the daft hair two now.

Russel Brand and jonathan Ross can say what they like. Just don't spend my licence fee on paying them to say it.

Or to put it another way

I ask you which is worse, phoning up an old man and leaving him a message that you ****ed his granddaughter (with that level of wit and repartie Oscar Wilde must be spinning in his grave) or to simply deflect and try to blame a paper for the Second World War?
Yes, the Mail is sh*t, we all know that, but this is all of the papers putting the boot in (it doesn't help that Brand isn't well liked by anyone with an IQ over 100), although you do have to question why the word slander hasn't been bandied around yet?

This is all just to sell papers - youre completely right. Its amazing people dont realise it, I guess there's a lot of simple souls out there ready to buy their Mail/Sun etc.

I dont want my licence fee paying for some shows on the bbc and for that matter I dont want my taxes to be spent on a lot of things I dont agree with but I understand that that isnt how the world works.

That is one of many daft arguments that come up far too often.
#28
I cant believe the girl that brand slepted with said he should of kepted it to himself and that it was a private matter etc

Isnt she the one that sold her story to the sun in the first place!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I'm not paying for your Antiques Roadshow and Songs of Praise you old fart!

i work dealing with genuine people with genuine nuisance calls. and you try getting the police to do anything about it. they have done wrong, but it was a prank. alot of people think these 2 are enjoyable and get alot of pleasure. they both get the bbc alot of business. and both are known for pratical jokes. mr saks knew what he was getting into, and so did his grandaughter from the sounds of it (she did have a racy past with mr brand)

let the police concentrate on the people who are getting real nasty calls from unknown individuals. and gordon brown can get off the current band wagon to get brownie points. and as for the sheep who follow everything the "press" tells them to... be individual

finally though, heat added (you need it) but its not actually that good a book
#31
All this mock outrage to sell newspapers makes me laugh, plus my BS detector tends to go off the scale when politicians jump on the band wagon.

£7.99 at AMAZON too but more expensive elsewhere. Good price so voting HOT.

I heard on the radio that the thing that is annoying Andrew Sachs the most is the dozens of reporters and cameramen camped outside his front door!

Yet someone who has obviously not read the book has been so incensed as to review it 1 star on Amazon - what a plonker. The book isn't brilliant but its worth the price on Play - voted hot!

Fair point, but I also don't think it's supposed to be driven by stories in the media!
