Price is high for specs. I had one of those last year and thought they are awful (noisy, problems with Windows XP and Ubunto, over-heating issues, Acer forcing their customers to use their bloat-ware) but many people are happy with their's for online surfing etc., but not much more.

Sorry but have to vote cold on this. for 2 Reasons:

1) As stated above spec vs price isn't that fantastic
2) it's an acer. Before i bought my dell i went through two acers from different stores that were faulty (to the point of being unusable). I know from reading numerous reviews i'm not the only one that has had issue's with the quality of the build from Acer. I've also heard horror stories about there return for fix department who i believe is acutally an outsourced company and not acer themselves.

There's plenty of reviews on amazon for acer laptops so if you are intrested make sure you take a read before you buy to make sure you know what your getting.

Personnally i'd recommend dell as i've had good reliability from both my dells. Plus if you have the nerve you can normally haggle with dell to get a better deal.

the Mrs bought me an Acer 5633 around July last year.
and touch wood I havent had any major issues.

two personal annoyances are
1)speakers not loud at all and tinny sound
2)Standard Battery life is no good.

I had to use the repair centre, I have the Acer Gold membership- covers accidental 3yrs (was £100 extra but included laptop bag and free del)
Acer was truly amazing had broken 3 keys off my keyboard, bent the metal behind them and Acer- or the outsourced company repaired/despatched it the same day of reciept.
They also gave it a good clean!

I understand other ppls experience may have been different but I am fairly satisfied wit my Acer.

Same spec as the refurb on Dixons website the other week for pretty much half the price after discounts (AMD 2Ghz but all the rest very similar -- and the AMD chip is faster than a 1.66 Intel) -- so has to be cold. Can get a Tosh of similar spec for not that much more (maybe £50 or so).

Not a fab spec for the money, much better dell deals around at the moment

I personally think it is a good spec and a good price as well as good looks compared to Dell Vostro 1500 i bought (that is gastly) it's just the poor quality, reliability and above all abysmal customer service.
