Dow's owns two of the Douro Valley's finest vineyards, Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira and Quinta do Bomfim. These were acquired in 1890 and 1896, making Dow's one of the first Houses to invest in premium vineyards. Dow's Trademark is drawn from the company's stock of best Reserve Port wines. This deep purple-black Port has rich mouth-filling flavours of ripe fruit balanced with a hint of black chocolate and peppery spice. This wine has been blended by Peter Symington who has over 40 years of experience in making great Port wines.

Hot - but who would ever buy *this* at £13 a bottle - probably their "summer price."

£10-£15 a bottle is the going rate for a good bottle of finest reserve

I don't think 'finest reserve' actually means anything, just a marketing name for ruby port. Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) is the next step up from ruby and tend to retail at more like £13 a bottle.

This is not a ruby port, just a blend but still I drank this for most of last year, when Sainsburys last had their special on it and it's pretty good and well worth the price. That said, it has nothing on a good bottle of Austrailan vintage port that I used to buy back home for not much more than this, depending on exchange rates of course!

The other port that Sainsburys have on offer is the Croft Platinium for £6, normally £12-13 ish, which is about as good and I managed to pick up quite a few bottles when they that their 25% off 6 or more, now that was a good deal.

This is not a ruby port

Yes it is

This wasn't online but I got 6 bottles on my way home tonight. Got another 5% off too so £4.75, nearly as good as the Crofts price.

Hello all, has anybody tried M&S port? How does Dow's Finest Reserve Port compare to it?
Help please!
