What if they fake an M&S receipt for £19.99?

I aint gonna pay £2.99 just to be whacked over the head with them lol

£2.99 is a good price, and for someone on a very low budget it is a nice thought for their partner.

Much better than the 'i would have got you roses but we are skint' cos at least it shows some effort.

I hate material people! If I was your partner YOU wouldn't get any for expecting gifts for "it".

John Terry should get some of these for the missus , that will sort it all out !

Dont understand why a £2.99 bunch of flowers show any less of a sentiment than a £20 bunch of flowers. Women need to wise up!
#12
I like tulips, I would prob prefer these to roses and cheap too! Flowers die quickly so I don't see the point in buying expensive ones, I'd prefer some nice lingerie or a gift. Most women love getting expenses roses so they can brag and show off to work mates and friends.
#13
they are actually kitchen/sex objects and falling into the old stereotypes - like he says wise up women don't be fickle/shallow. you can do it!

John Lewis on Oxford Street.

If you are going there, go to the rear entrance. Else ask for the flower counter when you call.

P.S. Don't know if they are on offer/sale though (missed that on first read through)

Last time I looked Blue Roses are expensive (don't know why though, they only put them in blue water!), so I didn't think you were being cheap!

Last time I enquired (which granted, was middle 2009) they said they had them in most of the time and for special (commercial) occassions, so it's likely they will have them in. They also have an ordering service where you can request them, so if you don't need them right now, then they might be able to get them in.

Anyway, I hope you're successful in your search!

It's the thought that counts not the price!

Any one, female or male who turns their nose up at a bouquet/bunch of flowers because they were not expensive enough does not deserve to be receiving flowers. :whistling:

Cant stand Valentines day, just another marketing tool. Wont be told when i have to buy something for my other half. I prefer to do it on several of the other 364 days of the year when she isnt expecting it and then it does mean somehting.

Regardless of what it cost.

Agreed!
While it's nice to receive flowers, face it ladies - they're only doing it cos everyone else is doing it! And YOU only want it cos everyone else is receiving it!

Interflora, M&S, Lidl, etc are all laughing... :whistling:

Coming from a female, I wouldn't care what colour, how much they cost or if they were made out of paper. I'd just like the fact he thought to get me anything :w00t:

Everyone should boycott buying flowers on Vals day.. teach all them greedy florists who hike up prices by 3billion % a week before hand who has the market power!!!

What a load of rubbish, but sadly women everywhere expect us poor men to go and empty our bank accounts behind flowrs, cards, chocolates and the like, or face the eternal wrath of never living down the year(s) you never got them anything for Vals day!!!!

Different I guess!

Thanks for the info mate! Have only seen one place that do em online, which will be my last resort... The red rose sets seem nicer in general ie you can get a nice vase with em, but I know my GF really likes the blue... tho its a whole lot more expensive! Lets hope John Lewis can help me out!
#31
It would be nice if they look like they do in the picture for 2.99. Lol.

I guess these will be a great deal for some people. The only reason they will not suit others is that some women become climatised to receiving expensive flowers and hence couldn't possibly receive flowers that are a) 2.99 and b) from Lidl. (trust me women have a flower valuing tool built into their brain from birth)

I just say if you think of your other half / wife / gf and buy them flowers often the price is immaterial. I tend to buy my wife flowers when she is feeling low and spend about £10, although doing the maths she could have these more than 3 times as often.

Cheers Dude! I rang em up and they said they can order me some!! I should be sorted. Much rather trust John Lewis than some website from my experience!
#33
No, not material... i just think that if someone is going to buy these rather than anything else, then the sentiment isnt there really. If you are that skint that you need to bargain hunt flowers then make the effort and do something special. Its not the cost or the item, its the thought... and popping into lidl's for a £2.99 bunch of tulips because you saw them on a bargain site does not really scream romance to me.

Buying flowers because the date states he must, then finding the cheapest bunch he can wouldnt cut it with me.

I popped down yesterday, and they gonna ring me back today with prices etc, they said they are normally 4 quid a stem at regular times, so will be a few quid more at this time, i saw one online. £18.99 for one rose, plus about 6 quid delivery charge... :w00t: the irony is that the company was called 'Value Flora' ;-)
#36
as they say peops its the thought that counts init ;-) & if i had a bunch of £2.99 tulips it would be better than what im likely to get this year finances dictate that my other half probably wont even buy me a card this year :'(

Went to John Lewis, in the end, after all they had told me, I ended up speaking to some new chap who told me I could only order a bouqet as opposed to a small bunch of roses, which was going to cost a fair whack including delivery, cost weren't so much the issue, but as was our first V day together...didnt want to set the bar too high... :P So went with another online company who delivered me a single blue rose in a nice box, all wrapped up nicely. Albeit a whole day late thanks to the idiots as the local City Link depot!!! On the plus side, my girlfriend absolutely loved it and I scored plenty of brownie points :D Cheers for all your info though, will prob use John Lewis in the future for sure!
