£1 used to be a good deal for a Pizza.

Dr. Oetkers are probably the nicest of the pizzas.

Lidl's aren't too bad.
#6
The Speciale = my favourite supermarket pizza. Mmmmm.
#7
Nice if you like pizza made with a cardboard base and plastic cheese - horrible pizzas IMHO.
#8
im not voting,

to be honest, you can get these pizza's cheap all the time from lidl

I actually have to agree. Out of all the pizzas I've had from supermarkets I've found these to be the worst ones I've had. They're too "manufactured" for my liking.

If I had to buy frozen it would probably be the Chicago Town 2 pack. They at least taste better than any other frozen I've tried.

Chilled - it's a toss up between Pizza Express (their American Hot is quite nice), or Asda's own brand pizza's (made in-store). Sadly there's not an Asda within walking distance to me, and what with Sainsbury's so close - I have to get them as and when I'm near one.

Still... each person has different tastes - but these really are bad IMO. I'd personally try anything else first - even if it means making my own.

I won't vote either way though as some may find this is a good deal

Not in the ones round here, you can't - never seen Dr Oetker in Lidl. There's one of their own that looks as if it might be a rebranded Dr Oetker, but it isn't, and it's awful!

Used to always buy Dr Oetker until I discovered the Pizza Express ones, which are a bit dearer (usually available half price somewhere at £1.99) but worth the extra.

Always makes me smile when I see the advert on TV, real Italian pizza blah blah, at the end.... Made in Germany!

Too true. And if you've had the wonderful experience of eating real Italian pizza, in Italy, you realise how rubbish all the pizzas sold in the UK are - whoever make them, and wherever you buy them. A bit like French croissants and Danish pastries - impossible to get anything like the real ones.

Its the same for any pizza (that tastes good) if its healthy its not worth eating at all i say. Althought I think DR Oetkers are slightly less than the others simply because they are smaller. these should really be a once in a while unhealthy indulgence. I suppose if your eating pizza all the time you may want to be somehow cautious but thats virtually impossible, eating these pizzas alone is around 800-1000 calories.

contain hydrogenated fat last time I looked, very bad for you unfortunately

sorry didn't mean to turn the hot deal into a health debate !

A pizza is "measured" by the quality of its dough with the toppings coming a poor second. Frozen pizza is no better than military canteen food in the midst of a war zone. Like it, agree with it, or not, Dr Ockter [or whatever] is the saltiest frozen nonsense served upon the gulping connon fodders and we are not talking from the airy-fairy/fussy end of the food chain. That lot don't care what they are eating so long as it is "exclusive" whereas this end of the consumption spectrum don't care what they are eating so long as it is cheap and non-exclusive. Whattt, disagree so soon …? Could it be due to the salt? Salt, which is one's "right" side, is also commonly known as aggression. Honest !
#26
I just tried the pepperami & mushroom one it didn't even touch the sides:thumbsup:

Hi
I also love these pizza. I could not find them in my (sheffield) co-op yesterday, but I did stumble accross them at £1.15 in one of Mr Morrisons' stores. So I started a my first ever deals thread

YES it is salty, but surely that is because it is a pizza! There are prob some pizza's around with less salt. I think you get a 7-8g of salt from your Dr Otetkers. This is bad as the recommended daily limit is 6g. I think this is mainly becuase the two main ingredients in Pizza are dough and cheese both of which are very high in salt. Look at the nutrition about other pizzas. Pizza hut on this menu (http://www.pizzahut.co.uk/media/77525/nutrition_delivery_pizzas-1009.pdf) has one pizza that has under 6g of salt, a medium vegetable supreme has 5.4g of it. But its range goes as high as a a large pepperroni feast which has 17g of salt in it! The majority of the pizza's on the list seem to have over 12g of salt.

Sorry Edit to this post. Both my Dr Otetkers (we buy vege hottish one, and chicken one) come in a 68% of RDA salt for the day or 4g for the pizza! This is amazingly low and so I ask gunsnbutter what pizza has less salt in it than 4g?
