Drag Me To Hell DVD £4.99 @ Play

Director Sam Raimi (Spider-Man trilogy, Evil Dead series) returns to the horror genre with Drag Me To Hell, an original tale of a young woman's desperate quest to break an evil curse.

Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) is an ambitious L.A. loan officer with a charming boyfriend, Professor Clay Dalton (Justin Long). Life is good until the mysterious Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver) arrives at the bank to beg for an extension on her home loan. Should Christine follow her instincts and give the old woman a break? Or should she deny the extension to impress her boss, Mr. Jacks (David Paymer), and get a leg-up on a promotion? Christine fatefully chooses the latter, shaming Mrs. Ganush and dispossessing her of her home.

In retaliation, the old woman places the powerful curse of the Lamia on Christine, transforming her life into a living hell. Haunted by an evil spirit and misunderstood by a skeptical boyfriend, she seeks the aid of seer Rham Jas (Dileep Rao) to save her soul from eternal damnation. To help the shattered Christine return her life to normal, the psychic sets her on a frantic course to reverse the spell. As evil forces close in, Christine must face the unthinkable: how far will she go to break free of the curse?

i like it when she gets ****** in the end best part of the movie
#3
Good movie. Not clever. But entertaining. Was below my expectations, but I think they were too high.
#4
Saw 10 minutes of this today on Sky, it looked really ropey for Sam Raimi and what sort of films he should make since Spiderman quality wise. What is it like?

It's great in my opinion. It's got that same sick sense of humour the Evil Dead films had.

A good laugh, with some icky bits!

Good deal for the dvd.

You may care to plump for the BD - I am waiting for a little price drop on this - currently £9.99.
A couple of comments on the BD from highdefdigest.com -

"It really is one of the more perfect transfers out there. This is insanely great."
"gets a "Must Own" designation. The movie is nothing short of a new genre classic, and the audio and video are absolutely flawless."

It's a fun movie, a combination of really cheesy moments along with some great tension. Good acting throughout. I love the bits where Sam Raimi uses everyday objects as elements to increase the tension.

I didn't enjoy this film and was really disappointed that he tried to copy the tricks and humour that made the Evil Dead films so much fun. He was about 20 when he made those films.
#11
Entertaining enough, although the two leads are so drippy that you give up caring about what evils befall them, which is fatal for a horror film...some decent scary moments on offer though! :w00t:

One of the worst films ever?

make that 2.. its rubbish, one of the worst films ever
#14
the bit were the eye pops all the way out is so poor, the cgi is awful apart from the effects the film was ok, but the end was more like a comedy
#15
from reading the comments, think ill give this one a miss. peace out
#16
Excellent film, saw it in a cinema full of screaming girls/women which added to the atmosphere.

We picked a random film that evening and so had no idea what was coming and I think that's probably the best way to watch it - with no expectations. By complete coincidence, we are both huge fans of Evil Dead  so enjoyed our evening very much.

Very poor. Not scary and unintentionally funny in parts (talking goat). Rubbish CGI as mentioned also.

Ok if you're 14.

This is a Sam Raimi film. So believe me, all the funny parts were intentional. This isn't as good as Evil Dead 1 or 2, but it's well worth seeing.

I wentr to watch it in the cinema too.. and i didnt hear any1 scream, just laugh... which would be awsome if i went to watch a comedy.. but i went to watch a horror... its pathetic... i lost the will to live... save yourself the trouble, 5 quid and 2 hrs of your life...

the ending is a bit naff, deal is ok for newish film
#21
I thought the movie was terrible. more like a comedy than a horror, almost on par with exorcist.
still, quite a good buy if you fancy some humour
#22
I enjoyed it though didn't have any great expectations for it
#23
Thanks, my mums been looking for this :)

I can't believe some people can't see that it was SUPPOSED to be funny...

I wonder, do these same people criticise Life of Brian for being historically inaccurate.
#25
I personally enjoyed it myself, i don't usually like horror movies either. Actually lived up to the trailer for me, i'd give it a 7.5/10 myself. each to their own

Crap movie, i've made better movies from my ass.

The only film ive watched and found scary is "Paranormal Activity". Really creepy if you watch it in bed.

Anyone who said this is a good movie must be smoking something a little crazy - 4 of us went to Tesco when this was first released to look for a decent film and heard that this would be good... We sat in pure disbelief at how awful it was, I nearly lobbed it through the window it was so pathetic... even for a Raimi style p*ss take of a horror it was bad, I would rather waste £5 on a piece of turf and watch it grow! However not voted hot or cold as the price may be ok... just not worth 2 hours of your life!

When you say good acting - does your view of good acting come from watching Eastenders of something? :?
