i miss the days of watching it on cartoon network every day. it'd be a 30 minute slot but most of it was all the talk and then adverts took up the rest. A great way to build a child's patience, making us wait a week before any fighting would start!

Yep same here, think I taped every one, if they were out in the UK on DVD I would buy them it's just like martial law, they just don't get it

If you're not ordering the series from the USA because of region 1 encoding then you're in luck. You can order the DVD's through amazon market place and they should work on a standard region 2 DVD player. Well mine do anyway.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/DragonBall-Z-Season-REGION-NTSC/dp/B000KWZ1TI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1238540012&sr=8-1

I know it says it's region 1 but these ones work on my region 2 dvd players (read amazon reviews). I have season 1 - 6 but I haven't got 7 or 8 due to the weakening of the £. I believe anything £18 or more will be taxed for import charges. Can anybody confirm this?

Anyway they have been releasing these on DVD for about 2 years now so some of the first seasons are coincidentally priced just below £18 !?! Again any of the season boxes in orange should work fine but avoid the dvd film specials such as the following as this dvd work on my region 2 dvd player:

Hope this helps.

270+ episodes plus ~20 movies makes one hell of a lot of DVDs... Nostalgic though, I watched it all through high school from when it first aired on Cartoon Network :D

I remember what was supposed to be a 5 minute fight with Frieza lasting 10 episodes, because the anime had caught up with the manga so they just had to keep on animating until the next chapter was released.

The movie looks atrocious. It looks as though somebody read the back of a DVD cover and made a film out of what they remembered. It may be worse than the original live action one. Ah well, at least it has giant monkeys in it... Something to note is that the film is based on Dragonball, not Dragonball Z which is set later when Goku is grown up.

Nerdyness over I guess ;)

It's not the region coding, it's the voices if I remember they were different for the UK and the USA

There are 3 different audio versions on the season 5 boxset (probably on the others to but I haven't checked). On the box is says:

English voice track with original japanese music 5.1 surround
Japanese voice track with original music mono
English voice track with tv broadcast music stereo

The last one is my favourite as it seems to be the cartoon network version. Is that what you meant?

And I don't recall the voices being different for the USA and UK

This is spot on. The english voices are the same all round. The only differences are the backing music and sound effects. There is the original japanese one and the Funimation music, which was used in the Cartoon Network broadcasts.

Yep.

They have only just started releasing these. Box style seems to be the same as the orange ones but I haven't got any of the GTs yet so I can't be sure they'll work on a region 2 dvd player.
