Personally I would never touch then but you do have pay slightly more for a decent quality axe guess it depends on how often you intend to use it.

Carbon steel as in not stainless steel (which indeed also contains some carbon but much less)

You really don't have a clue how uneducated that statement is!
Had you known the slightest thing about the carbon content of various types of iron and steel you wouldn't have said it.

"Easy tiger! You are entirely entitled to your opinion" - one of your previous comments or have you changed your mind. Looks as if the Mods didn't find it funny as it's now been removed:)

Are you stalking me or keeping a log of my comments or something? Scary!

And the mods would remove a comment like that? Almost as scary.

Go on then educate me and give me the scientific low down. I was just going on my own experience of a Chinese 6" bench planner I bought which had about 30% P38 in the bed to fill all the blow holes in the monkey metal. P.s it went back to the shop.
This might help a little also http://www.kanabco.com/vms/eng_metalsl_hist/eng_metal_hist_01.html
Plus remember Chinese quality control does not exist.....they only want to see the Dollars rolling in...inconsistency is the only consistency in 95% of what they export.

If you want educating, can I recommend http://www.google.co.uk as a good starting point for the subject. I have neither the time or the inclination to fill in the cavern of missing knowledge before we would get to a point where it would be worth discussing.

Does clicking on your Avatar and looking at your previous posts constitute stalking? Just establishing that you lack consistency in your point of view. No need for hysteria :p
