I needed one of these about 10 years ago and although I probably paid a bit more for one at the time, I'm glad that I didn't wait for them to come down in price

I have a box full of these somewhere, gathering dust.

Have you seen the PS3, 360 and Wii that are out now? Much better graphics and all that

I don't think the Wii graphics are that much better.

very good console, died sudden death - unfairly though...

Piracy killed it
#12
House of the dead was the best version ever on the dreamcast, remember seaman?
#13
Good deal, if it were 1999 :-D
#14
For the time period it was the best console ever in my opinion along with the best game - Shenmue. I still have two of the consoles and have enough pads however.

LOL no. You could cite a huge number of reasons, e.g.:

Online capabilities before people understood or wanted it adding to the cost, lack of EA games (no FIFA etc.), the successes of PlayStation & PS2, the previous failure of the Saturn causing low confidence in Sega, lack of decent marketing (particularly compared to Sony), Microsoft actually paid Sega to stop producing it and start making games for XBox....etc. etc.

Piracy was a drop in the ocean compared to any of those, if your statement were true hardware sales would've been much higher as everyone jumped on the free ride

You've got the rest of your information right but Microsoft didn't pay Sega to stop producing the DC.

Officially no, officially they payed them to produce games for XBox (there was even some talk that SEGA requested making XBox DC compatible, but Microsoft weren't keen). The guy who ultimately hit the kill switch on DC (Peter Moore) moved to Microsoft about a year later.

So officially you're right, but it's the same end result and rather fishy if you ask me......
