Nice price for a pre order 3-D movie. Watched this film in 3-D at the cinema and really enjoyed the it, however not one for the kids.

Don't get too excited - I'm a big fan of JD but this movie is not very good imo.

I thought this movie was awesome, shame it was only in cinemas for a week or two.
Top 3 of the year, possibly 2.

Yeah JD Sports are quite good, now back to the deal. :p
As junk4 pointed out it's been available for a penny more at two different retailers for two weeks so hardly a mind blowing deal.

"Not one for the kids"? That'll be why it's rated 18.

Great movie this, and the 3D slow motion has to be seen to be believed.

Leave your brain at home. If you can do that it's a really good film IMHO

Great effects, über violent and Urban nails Dredd

I found the film .................. how can I say .......... monotone. It was ok but it did not have any really good moments or bad moments. I never really said wow that was amazing or Ok this is getting boring now. it was just flat.

Brilliant film. If you're a genuine film fan, there is lots to appreciate in this, from Alex Garland's script to the John Carpenter homages in the soundtrack. Karl Urban was excellent. Found this to be a really enjoyable retro (die hard, robocop era) great fun all-action movie. Top three of the year for sure.

Well you can't be an old skool fan of the comics then. Stallone RUINED his version. Karl Urban (who is a fan apparently) got it spot on.

Great film. Gonna wait a while myself and see if any sort of special edition bluray is released myself .....

Much preferred this to the Stallone version, more faithful to the comics in my eyes! Dredd doesn't take his helmet off, Stallone spent most of the film without one!

Take it this will have 2D version on the blu-ray as well?

Each to his or her own. But don't think you can compare the two films. Stallone's version is like watching a cartoon - and Dredd is more gritty - like the revised batman franchise. Liked both films but for different reasons. Think it's a worthwhile addition to blu ray collection. Wish I'd seen in 3D.

Nothing like Dark Knight Rises.

The difficulty with Dredd is that it was on a limited budget, which meant them bringing it more to the present day than it is in the comic. They de sci fi'd it. That said it was better than I expected and it did make a difference him not taking his helmet off in contrast to the Stallone version, which attempted too much. Its a shame they wont make enough money for a sequel. Simple plot, but well executed and acted imo, but if you want a similar thing done better, then watch Raid Redemption.

The Stallone one was mince.

Interview with John Wagner (co-creator of the character) after the release of the new version: http://www.empireonline.com/interviews/interview.asp?IID=1530

Quote from said interview: "The first film really had nothing to do with Judge Dredd, whereas this one is all Dredd."

Sums it up pretty well for me. I still have around 700 progs dating back to the late 70's (don't have the REALLY early stuff any more unfortunately. My collection pretty much starts around 160/170) and I *wanted* to like the Stallone version when it came out - he has the chin for the job! - but I couldn't. He just ruined the character completely.

Whereas the Urban version, I really enjoyed.

I swear this was rated a 15 in the cinemas when it came out?

Dredd is a great film. I'm a movie-buff and see a lot of films at the cinema every month, I have Sky Movies, Netflix and buy countless BluRays and DVDs. Basically, I'm a bit obsessed with films and I'm not easily pleased.

Dredd is definitely one of, if not THE best film of 2012. It's dark, gritty, engrossing, ultra-violent, and as sylish as hell. As most critics have said, if there had been a half decent marketing budget, Dredd3D would have been HUGE. As it is, the film flopped at the box office. Most people didn't even know that it existed. But...the critics on the whole loved it. It's destined to be a big cult film.

The Stallone film was extremely silly, camp, poor executed and far removed from the source material. Dredd 3D is the opposite.

for such a small budget film this film had low expectations to start with, but i thorougly enjoyed its ridiculous violence and over the top action. It was a blast, got this on preorder from Amazon myself. Worth a look imo can see it dropping in price quickly.

As someone that read Dredd in the 2000AD comics in the late 70's I found this to be a great film. Forget the awful Stallone insult to Dredd, this is as close as I remember it.

Great film, one of the most enjoyable I've watched this year.

I'd say HMV is probably the best deal with 6% top cash back. Not sure if I'm gonna order, great price but I just get the feeling this is one that will drop quite quick.
