The M8's a pretty nippy box and a few months ago i'd have recommended one from droidsticks with their wizard on to get all the addons configured & updated for you by them. But now i'd just get one and install Mobdro and Showbox and get all the content through those apps instead.
Good price.

Don't the ' droidsticks' charge a shocking price ......something like £1.53 + Network charges per minute for a call to them? Only way to contact them is through that number!

That's a bit steep and one could easily run up a high bill.Do they have a regular number to call at all?

I've only ever contacted them by email

Is this the best thing to buy if you want to use xbmc for movies at a low price?

Add tv addons to XBMC then you will have all the movie apps all the sport ones. It's free just google it. Use to be called fusion add ons. Company's like droid stick are just doing this and make a lot of cash from it. Mobdro and showbox then use XBMC job done

Can you get IPTV on this?
#8
Just bought one as thought seems a pretty powerful bit of kit for the money and selling £100 everywhere else.

This is better at running XBMC than the Amazon Fire TV?
#10
i'm not sure about xbmc running on this versus the Amazon fire tv, but i think this accepts usb media, but the Amazon fire tv doesn't (or didn't when i was looking to buy one) ,if you need to use an external hdd

I bought Fire TV the other day and XBMC is very good on it. The biggest thing for me getting this box is that it has the Play Store. My Fire TV updated and now discovered I can't root it to install play store. Can side load apps if you know what you are doing but bit of a pain. Fire TV is good if you have prime though.

bought one of these bad boys as been wanting to see how it compares to my WDTV live that i have been very happy with..
this is the same price as i paid for my WDTV live about 3 years ago too.

the SD card part at the rear will be handy too as i have loads of those lying around, and if taking elsewhere it looks smarter than a usb sticking out the back
this unit also has optical which is nice (so does the WDTV live though) for those with amps and want their surround sound

would be good if this does the footie without having to have my laptop connected up.. :)

mind, i dont see anywhere where it mentions XBMC is pre loaded on the spec on amazons page...? but i wouldnt imagine it is to hard to load it on.
is xbmc still going to be the best media player to use...? last time i used it it was on my modded original xbox but got the WDTV live due to mkv files and 720P/1080P becoming the norm...

Fire tv just locked down to much for me, as you say it is aimed at prime users. Returned mine. Does the droid come with xbmc addons installed?

I have a tronsmart s89-h, and a mxiii, which both have the s802 chip, and they are faster and cheaper than this from geekbuying.

also the above two are well supported by freaktab and finless Bob custom ROMs.

Can someone advise. Something like this I assume runs the play store right. Does that mean a box like this would run old school emulators and stuff? And would then the USB port on this device be able to take a compatible controller?
#19
Had one of these for about 5 months. paid £50 from geekbuying. had no problems with xmbc or any files I've thrown at it. The remote us next to useless so tronsmart air wand/keyboard is a must to get the best from it. I have an external hard drive hooked up to it and a samba app running so as to use it as a makeshift nas. I personally have found it to be worth the money.
#20
Still unsure about getting this, though great price. Like the idea of getting one from droidsticks, just that lazy!
#21
Can get this from play gadgets on eBay for 62 and comes fully loaded worth the extra few quid imho

With this would I be able to watch BT Sports, ESPN and Premier Sports without a paid subscription?
#26
do you can watch free view via internet?
#27
premierleaguepass runs great on these boxes. You can get the .apk from http://www.watchpremierleaguepass.com

4.5mb/s streams for all todays games its the best way to watch all the footy in my opinion.

You can but its not overly reliable. It's hit and miss with those streams.

Even cheaper than ordering from China. I also have a RK3288 devices and it walks all over the M8's 802 cpu/gpu

These boxes are close to being illegal!

Im sure you can, I think for me the big advantage is returns. Guaranteed for Amazon to accept returns solely on not meeting your expectations and organise to return free via Collect+ and Im sure the eBay seller will not cover these costs

Have a look at the probox2 ex from http://www.w2comp.com. It comes with a gaming wireless remote which is excellent for this. YouTube reviews of device very positive. Currently a bit more expensive at 84 pounds though.

depending on what you already have.. i'd say buy it if you need a media player/streamer for HD files etc!
they're normally £94 remember and you'll probably be kicking yourself if you miss out.

I did look at this M8 box but I'm very unsure if for me after sending back the "NEO X8-H" a few weeks ago, it was very clunky and the remote control and the air mouse that was provide was bloody useless.

Did you just buy it today or have you been using it? my WDTV remote is dying and I am looking for something that will play my 1080p mkv files with DTS etc from a network drive wirelessly. The WDTV has done this for a few years but having to hammer the remote to get it to pause or exit a folder is becoming a pain.
