I thought this was a good idea also until i checked the T&C's

Terms and Conditions

Excludes the purchase of gift vouchers using gift vouchers as a method of payment.

Edit, sorry that is only about using gift cards to buy gift cards.

So looks like its OK

So

Could I buy 3 £100 gift cards

Get 3 £10 Vouchers

Then buy a PS3 with £20 extra

?????
#8
Chipup - that isn't the same thing.

You go and pay cash for your £100 vouchers, get £10 free. Then go back later and buy the DS-lite using your vouchers and you get another £10 voucher free, its just to stop you buying £100 of vouchers and then using those £100 to buy £100 more getting free £10 every time.... hope that makes more sense..

Paul

damn, you posted at the same time... yes you.ve got the idea, but better than that... you buy your 3x£100 in seperate transactions to get your free 3x£10, then you buy your ps3 and get another £10!!
#9
yes you can however you have to buy 3 seperate 100 gift cards in 3 seperate transactions. I did it yesterday and this worked for me
#10
Thanks Guys, another option on the PS3 front for me then.

Thanks
#11
you then get 30 pounds of fift cards £10, £10, £10 and when you buy the ps3 you get a10 pound voucher
Therefore 40 pounds off
#12
i did get someone else to go in and collect though but thats just me
#13
Just a warning.....On the thread for buying a Wii people have tried to do this and, although they were ok doing it with ONE PURCHASE OF £100 ( So should be ok for this DS ), They cashier/management seem to refuse to do it for the second and further £100 purchases. Although the T&C's do seem to allow this I presume that the staff/management have some sort of discretion?

I am about to do the same thing.....funny how we both feel "funny" about buying the vouchers and the ds eh?

If you don't like the games choice, Argos has another DS Lite offer:

DS Lite (black, white, pink or silver) (£99.99)
DS Lite Shell Case and Flip Game Case 568/2492 (£19.98)
Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass 568/5808 (£0.00)

You can only get Zelda free if you add these three items together. I got my Zelda yesterday, and I couldn't stop playing it!!! A wonderful game in my opinion.

Not really sure how good this deal is, but if you can buy £100 vouchers and get an extrz £10 before you buy the above offer, spend £109.97 for a DS Lite, case and a (new) great Zelda game, and get another £10 voucher, I think it's a good deal.

The buying a giftcard/voucher and recieving vouchers may not be working anymore.

On Wednesday I bought £100 voucher and got a free £10 voucher, then a £50 and got a £5. At the time the women doubted I'd get a voucher and was surprised when the sale had completed that the till said I was eligable.

Went back to same Argos today and went for another £100 voucher - This time at the end of the purchse the women said the till said it wasn't eligable.

From th Argos site:
"Excludes the purchase of gift vouchers using gift vouchers as a method of payment."

So if you are paying for vouchers by any other means except vouchers, then you are eligible. Its on the terms & conditions.

I tried Sims 2 and that came up as free aswell. Might be worth trying other £20 games in the OP's bundle

This excludes the purchase of gift vouchers USING GIFT VOUCHERS AS PAYMENT METHOD.
We are talking about buying £100 worth of vouchers using CASH ( or card ) which is NOT against t&C's although argos have may changethe T&C's now.....

That means nationwide though - plus it refers to the whole offer, not just a means of paying it.

I bought a Wii yesterday - purchased 2 x £100 of vouchers first and then used these to buy the Wii, the cashier wasn't sure if she should give me another £10 voucher and went off for 5 mins and came back with what looked like a 20 page printout of t&c's which included a bit saying that people buying vouchers and then buying goods should NOT be given the free voucher on the purchase of goods. There was also a bit saying that if the cashier thought the customer was attempting to defraud(seems a bit strong!) Argos by using a loophole then they should refuse the sale.

Basically they've covered themselves but it's still possible to get away with it if the cashier isn't that clued up, so try and go for a stupid looking one (you should be spoilt for choice:p ). Also seems a bit underhanded that the t&c's they refered to aren't the same as the one's on display in stores or on the website.
#27
Well the purchasing of £100 & £50 vouchers and getting a voucher worked for me midweek - Yet today when I tried the same store with the same routine it didn't.

I questioned that it only say I couldn't buy vouchers with vouchers and she looked at her screen and said it isn't flagging up that I'm eligable for a promo voucher.

Some you win, some you loose.

Have just reserved this package for collection and will be getting the vouchers / card Thursday or Friday and collect the reserved items on Saturday - but only if the £10 extra per £100 spend is still in force!!!
Also just noticed on website that £5 / £10 extra bit is only valid until 30/10/07 - not sure if anyone has already noticed / post this or not.
#29
If they're gonna get fussy about vouchers purely to purchase goods, then just buy the vouchers in one store and buy the goods in another :giggle:

Thats what I did. And to further play the game.....I took gift cards and pretended that they where for a wedding!!:whistling:

why would you do such a thing?? The PSP is 10x better than the DS...

Final Fantasy 1
Final Fantasy 2
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
Grant Theft Auto: Vice City Stories

Final Fantasy: Crisis Core (when it's released)

Plenty of good games, better graphics, speedier RAM, more space on a UMD than a DS.

Keep your PSP :) you're onto a winner.
#36
Cause the kids already have ds and games, so it's just one more thing to throw money at...

No probs, I think like you, I've been holding off for the best deal, and I think with the game this will take some beating.....our local argos was hectic when I turned up, and I checked stock of the DS and they had sold out.....its flying out the doors
