#5

That screwdriver looks like a normal phillips. Remember you need a tri-wing screwdriver to get the original battery cover off.

The DS Lite battery cover requires a phillips head screwdriver.
While the other screws on the Lite are the Tri shaped ones.

My DS-Lite battery cover has a standard Philips screw, not a Y-shape.

I know that, just saying if you want to take apart the DS, then use a Triwing screwdriver.
#29
Thanks alot for this, my son is always moaning when his battery dies.

Got the product, nice for £5

One thing I didn't realise - they give you three covers (pink, black and white). You can then "hot swap" the battery without unscrewing it in the future
#31
What a great deal this is! These batteries are a tenner each without even having the desktop charger!

Can you please explain this? Have reserved one for my nephew, but his mom just told me she doesn't want him unscrewing the back off all the time

Cheers

I think the covers you get with it are infact specific replacement ones, from the pics there isnt a hole for any screws so it should simply lift out (like ur tv remote, well mine atleast)
#34
Yep that's correct, just like a TV remote cover

The replacement cover comes in two parts. One part is very thin and screws across the original screw hole but stays slightly moveable (this then does not need to be removed again) - the second, much bigger part, clips in and out as required like the bit on the back of the TV remote.

Still around..

Thanks to Babbler for the reminder :)

I got two of these last week - they are great & have all you need! The standard ds lite charger fits for use; you amend the battery cover on your lite by screwing in the small rectangular bit, and hey presto like the others said, it makes an easy to remove battery cover. Three colours included too ! Screwdriver does everything you need to alter battery cover so you only need use it once, the only very slight downside is because you remove the battery you have to reset the orignal settings with user name, birthday etc , but a small downside for when travelling with no access to power! very small and lightweight too.
#38
I've got myself one and been using it a couple of weeks. Only problems with it is the screw doesn't screw all the way in so the plastic it holds wobbles a bit, also because of the screw if you slide it along a surface the screw will scratch it. As mentioned when you take the battery out you have to reset the system settings again, not much of a problem if you just use M3 Simply etc. since it'll bypass the settings screen. And finally the battery doesn't seem to last quite as long as the original battery does.

It's a good idea but I don't think they took the system settings into consideration when designing it especially since some games such as Animal Crossing relies on the time and date....if you chance the date or time then for a period of time in the game you earn less cash for certain things. Also the screw could end up damaging a particularly nice table.

well ive had mine for a while now and i gotta say its an awesome buy

i play my DS quite abit and the battery usually runs out within a few hours so i always have one battery charging while i play and i can just stick the battery into the DS and carry on playing when i need it.

the battery cover is very convenient too.

i have a case for my DS so the scratchy screw doesnt bother me.

the time and date issue doesnt bother me too as i have an R4 ;)
