Please be aware that this will not arrive before christmas according to the item details.

Or just go into Virgin and buy one? Loads behind the tills.

i can't believe how pathetic nintendo are.

These have been out for YEARS.

Why can't they get them into stores?
#4
Urm, they are? And they've been out for just over a year, not years.

If you can't find one now, why didn't you do your shopping earlier instead of buying now? Like Wiis, they've been in stock all year round.
#5
because of the R4...
#6
What of it:?
#7
buy a 16 quid R4 and a 1gb micro SD card, then load up all the games from piratebay...you can fit over 10 games in 1gb. Its all over the web.

I have never taken an interest in these devices, but having 'free' access to all the games ever made is quite tempting. Nintendo must be gutted.
#8
How so? The vast majority of people buy their games, the DS Lite (each one sold) makes them money. The R4 doesn't have any effect on this thread or the sales. The games can be gotten from any torrent site or newsgroup worth its weight, not just piratebay. There've been many DS flash-carts before the R4, ones that fit on hundreds of games, not just ten.

Not everyone has money all year round and some people actually need to save to buy Christmas presents for other people rather than self indulging all year round. I did manage to get my two DS Lites in November but I was fortunate to have the money. Also not everyone has a Virgin store everywhere and yes it is becoming hard to get hold of these so perhaps you need to keep your comments to yourself Adamo.

Do NOT order from 24 Studio.

I've just had an ordeal trying to cancel my order with them, and dealt with a VERY rude member of customer services.

They can't track an internet order for 7 days after it has been placed!

I asked if there was a reason for that and the lady on the phone said 'Why would there be a reason, it's because that's how it works'.

I said 'Look, that's not very helpful'

And she told me 'OK. Thanks then, goodbye.' And hung up.

VERY WORRIED ABOUT GETTING HUGE CREDIT BILLS FOR THIS NOW!
CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT - THERE'S NO CREDIT CARD ARRANGEMENT TO CANCEL. THEY'RE JUST GOING TO HIT ME WITH INVOICES LATER.

I'm very nervous about the whole thing, and would appreciate advice on what exactly I can do!

In the meantime DO NOT ORDER. No matter how tempting.

24 Studio have the rudest customer services people I have ever dealt with.
And BEWARE, one day late with your payment and they add hefty charges.
I didn't recevie a bill from them whenI ordered and since I didn't have a bill with my customer number couldn't log in online. I received bill no.2 (as marked) and they had added over £25 in charges and late fees. I had a real fight with a snotty woman on the phone before I convinced them that a bill not being received was the reason for non-payment.

shopto have DS's in stock now. Only black and white though and you can only order one per person.
#13
Apparently 24 Studio can't even guarantee a pre Christmas delivery for most of their DS Lite offerings... except for the higher priced bundles of course!

Having read the above comments also, together with those I have read elsewhere, I have to give this one a cold vote unfortuntely.

I am so p*ssed off with trying to get hold of a DS. So far I have:

Ordered one on play - currently says awaiting stock
Ordered one from tesco - got a phone call saying out of stock
Ordered from shopto - doesn't accept Lloyds TSB cards
Tried all the online stores possible, been round every shop possible in my area and NOTHING!

Wish the wife had let me know earlier that she wanted one!

I admit there are places that sell bundles but all are overpriced and come with **** games so giving them a miss

All I want is a DS on its own, how hard can it be!!!!!!!!!

Tell me about it!!!! I just missed out on one from shopto because i had to mess about registering and checking for an activation e.mail first. I've trawled virtually the entire West Midlands for one! I'm looking for a replacement for my daughter's broken one, which i bought when the lites first came out...and had absolutely no problem in buying then.. so i've no idea why they're so hard to find now:x .

Have u tried your local Woolworths or Blockbusters? I picked one up from Woolworths yesterday for £99.99, the shop assistant said they were getting deliveries in from time to time but they were not being put out on display:you had to ask. Blockbusters online was £104.99 when I last checked with a game thrown in, collection only.

Virgin/Zavvi stores are in almost all decent-sized towns, plus there's a load more shops you could check. Seems to be stock there all the time.

I'll post my comments when I feel like it, cheers.

'Seek and yee shall find!'

just picked up a DS lite from the blockbuster in BLACKBURN!

£104.99 with starter pack and one game (mediocre choice of games)

or £99.99 with just starter pack

they had 8 in stock (silver, black and white) when i left at 20.05

GOOD LUCK!

the bloke on counter said a box of 20 DS units came in this morning and he was down to eight when i left -

he also said its extremely difficult get a DS but just dont ask about the Wii !!!

I have one, I bought it last year. They have been out 18 months in the UK, longer in Japan, and Nintendo's supply issues are pathetic.

why dont you just order from amazon.de or amazon.fr depending on colour availability!. de is slightly cheaper than fr.

I just did that last week for a friend, no hassle and they guarantee it will come by the 24th (much sooner now)

do you have a postal charge from Germany or France?
#22
yea i'd like to know that

I am considering buying a nintendo ds from amazon.de. Are there any issues with buying one from them? I take it the default language of the sytem is German, is this easily changed to english? For mains power use in Britain is it simply a case of buying an adaptor? I have also noticed some for sale at play-asia.com and they are advertised as 220v, here's the link -
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-...n-70-1gb1.html
is this the voltage for Britain or will there be any issues with mains power use with these? Are play-asia.com a reputable company? So many questions! Thanks for all the help on HUKD! :-)
#24
Hopefully others will come back to you re the reputation of play-asia.com, although I note that the only ones they appear to have in stock at the moment are the Nintendo DS Lite Gold with Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass bundle which appears to be an American import.

I would like to repeat a warning I posted recently on a related thread to anyone who buys one of these, either from play-asia, eBay or indeed from anywhere else for that matter, which was originally intended for the American market.

The power supplies shipped with these are for a 110 volt input, and if connected to a standard 240 volt UK socket outlet (even via an adapter) will almost certainly damage either the supply unit, or possibly even the device itself, and could actually be very dangerous.

Do please make sure that you only use a UK compatible DS lite power supply unit, and you should be fine.

I am sure that most people are fully aware of this anyway, but there may be a few who are not, or who may perhaps give them straight to their children (or whoever) without realising the possible consequences!

i've ordered one from vg+ which will probably need an adaptor as it's from Canada, where can i get a "UK compatible DS lite power supply unit" just incase?
#26
I think I'll go for the amazon.de deal but I'm struggling putting a uk postcode in the 'Postleitzahl | Ort:' fields and also the 'Geburtsdatum | Geburtsort:' date of birth | place of birth fields. Can anyone help with the format of this field too? Can anyone help with this problem? Thanks :-)

You can get them as cheaply as £1.49 on Amazon.... for example: http://www.amazon.co.uk/ONLINE-POWER-ADAPTOR-MAINS-CHARGER/dp/B000XUQE4S/ref=pd_sbs_ce_title_1 for example.

Unfortunately as they are a Market Place seller you will probably have to pay nearly £5 carriage.

They are also available on eBay, mostly from Hong Kong... although some are from UK sellers!

The 'official' Nintendo ones cost about £10 from companies such as play.com, and a bit less from Amazon, but they both seem to be out of stock at the moment.

A Google search will bring up some other alternatives also.

Good Luck!

Edit: If you are ordering a DS Lite from outside the UK, it is quite common for a separate UK power adapter to be included as part of the bundle... mine came with one!
