Just when you thought that this couldn't get any cheaper!!!

DealExtreme are a retailer based in Hong Kong. They accept Paypal, and the items you order typically take 10 days to arrive.

If your order is below £18, then you are not liable for import duty etc.
DealExtreme have always marked their goods as a "Gift" when I use them.

If in doubt, order sepaprately as the shipping is free, but that doesn't mean that they will not combine your order to take it over the threshold.

I am sure everyone knows what this cartridge can do, but for those that don't know, here's a brief synopsis.

This is a cartridge that fits into the Nintendo DS and DS Lite like a normal game cartridge.
It contains a space for a Micro SD card to be inserted into it.
You have to put Micro firmware onto the Micro SD card and then put your "Homebrew" games, onto it and play them onto the DS.

There is a rumour that you can get illegally downloaded games free from the internet, but this is something that I wouldn't advocate as it's baaaaaaadddddd.

You can also put an application called "Moonshell" on the cartridge that allows you to play Music, Photo's, Video's and E books on your DS.

These cartridges do not come with a Micro SD card.

If you have a Micro SD card then this is the link for the DSTT cartridge on it's own:

DSTT cartridge ~£10.24

If you need a Micro SD card, I would get it with a Kingston Micro SD card (Which is widely regarded as the best). You can get it with a 1gb card:

DSTT cartridge with 1gb Micro SD card ~£14.12

but I would get it with a 2gb card:

DSTT cartridge with 2gb Micro SD card ~£16.19

Once you have the DSTT card and Micro SD card, you will need to download the Micro Firmware and put it on the Micro SD card. This next link is from GBAtemp.NET

V1.09 Micro Firmware

You will need to have an application on your computer that allows you to "Unzip" "Zip" files.

If you have one of these cards, (or are thinking of getting one), and are having problems with it then ask in this thread: DSTT Help

DealExtreme offer a small discount if you order more than 3 in one order. You will save approximately 30p per unit.

Great price. Cant believe how cheap these are getting. Does this automatically save the game for you and is there much difference between this and the more expensive ones? Been wanting to get one for ages but never sure which one to get. Cheers in advance.

I bet Nintendo can't believe it either !

I remember paying £120 for the same sort of thing for an old Gameboy Advance, and getting stung for another £20 import duty. Maybe these devices are used in the Governments Inflation calculationg methods !

This little gadget is amazing. I was a little sceptical when I purchased it that it will be difficult to use, load games, save games etc...but it was so easy it was amazing. It saves the game for you on the card as you go along.
The only negative I have noticed is that since I have the card my battery seems to run down VERY quickly and I dont play it considerably more than I used to.
Follow Saints instructions at the top though to ensure that you load the menus onto the card etc as this may be a little tricky to the lay person.

V1.09 Micro Firmware

Latest firmware is v1.10

Official site seems to be down though. :?

If I ordered 3 with 3 2Gbyte micro cards it would come to about £46. Would I have to pay any import duty or anything?
#14
awesome piece of kit. Mine took about 10 days to arrive, but it was worth it. The latest firmware is on the site, and you just d/l it and unzip it to your micro SD card, and off you go. Its not only good for 'evaluating' new games, i found old classics that just arent around anymore, which i am 'evaluating' at the moment.
#15
great card, great price, got mine for £12 in the deal a couple weeks ago, even better at 10£!

not everything runs on it though, some things do crash, but its a bit random depending on what u try on it. I would recommend this though as support is good, and new firmwares come out regularly to improve its already solid reliability!

i got a 2GB sandisk card for this with no probs, getting a 4GB on soon!!

voted hot! :)

if the package is marked correctly and customs pick it up you will be told to pay 17.5% of the total cost, plus 3.5% on top of that, plus an admin fee of up to about a tenner.

Just ordered one (£11)

Dealxtreme will probably mark the contents of the package as being a "gift" and state a low value, so you might get away with it. But customs aren't stupid.

Personally, I'd play safe and place three separate orders.

Do these cards work with wireless multiplayer games (online & local) ok? Or would I need the CycloDS for that?

The CycloDS Evolution card is considered by many to be the best card out there, but it will set you back around £30. It reportedly has the best ROM compatibility and fewest issues. For a tenner though I'd be tempted by the DSTT - I think the firmware updates are pretty regular so any issues should be addressed fairly quickly.

Thanks thesaint,
ordered 1 with the 2gb micro sd card

I first purchased a G6 Real card last year with 1gb built in memory. Since then I have bought R4, M3 and thanks to this thread a DSTT for various friends/relatives. I can state that we have had no compatibility problems with any of the cards. The only issue with the R4 card is that it is easy for the little 'uns to delete roms due to the OS layout. The M3 and G6 cards share the same OS and do not have this problem. The DSTT has a different OS again, but loads games slower than the other cards. It also has the spring loaded microsd slot, which I've heard was a problem on the original R4 cards with memory cards popping out at random, thouigh I've had no problems with this one. As far as memory cards go, I've had cheap ones and more expensive branded ones and they've all worked exactly the same. The roms are that small I don't think transfer speeds are an issue in this case. Anyway, that's my two 'apeth :)

saint - does all that info apply to the M3 DS Real too? or does that one work differently?

thanks for any advice

Really? On an item with a cost of £10-£11 :?

Thanks to the people who mentioned import duty for multiple orders, I forgot to put that information in my OP, so I shall add it to hopefullly stop the same questions being asked if the thread gets long. :)

I specifically didn't link to the DSTT site to get the Micro Firmware because it is very slow at the best of times, and not working at the worst of times.

That is an amazing price. Hot deal, most of these are going for ~£30 on Amazon marketplace.

Hi elsie, I have never used the M3 DS Real. You will need a different Micro Firmware for the M3, some carts have it pre-installed.

If you purchased it through a deal on HUKD, then it would be best to ask on that thread, or ask in this thread:

thanks saint - I got it from dealextreme last month after
seeing it on here so I'll search out the thread...

This is a very good deal, but the quality of the product is quite poor. The DSTT I purchased does not always make full fin contact when plugged into a DS (tested on several DS's), so is subject to games freezing at random intervals.

but for a teener you cannot go wrong. HOT.
#37
Thanks Saint - you are the first person to list what these things do - heat & rep added

Hope it works well, as I have 2 coming :)

To all those who are unsure they have purchased a worthwhile item i assure you that you will not be disappointed! I do not have a DSTT but i have the R4 and also the EdgeDS both excellent cards. The DSTT is pretty much identical to all the other cards on the market for the basic user who just wants to play 'backups' of their games. You should buy one for every DS, maybe buy 2 or 3 MicroSD cards for each and load them with different games so u dont have to lug loads of game cartridges with you everywhere. I cannot recommend these items strongly enough. I love them, with all my heart ;)

Yep same problem with mine, doesn't seem to make good contact and quite often the DS won't pick up the cartridge in the game slot .. usually need to push it down for it to make contact and then it works.
