good price it seems, but problem is buying from cex you have no idea how trashed its been
#2
Don't forget you do get a 12 months warraty with it
#3
Anyone know of a cheap mobo to go with?
#4
I've got the 2160 (1.8) and i've overclocked it to 2.4Ghz so far with no adverse effects (apart from a noiser fan). Stock cooler as well. I reckon this bad boy will clock to 3.2Ghz with a decent heatsink/fan so it's a bargain this.

I have the E2200 (2.2ghz) running at 3ghz on stock volts, fantastic price for this if you can get a cheap mobo

From £26 delivered on eBay.
#7
How much do these usually cost brand new?
#8
They used to retail for £50-£60, and can clock up to 3.2-3.4 GHz. Yes the cache is an issue, but this thing is cheaper than 4GB of RAM fgs.

Good for the price, but this is the entry dual core socket 775 CPU no? Overclock it all you want, but that 1MB cache...ew!

The Celeron dual-core with 512MB cache is the entry level one. The 1MB cache is perfectly fine for general purpose applications but can be a bottleneck for games and scientific software.

Sold out on-line already. Still in-store in 2 places.

no biggie the i5 cores are about to come out and you will see the price of the c2d's and i7 drop :)

Was this a good price even for a used one? Gutted I missed out.
#16
i deal for a cheap build internet PC
#17
Very cheap price indeed.
#18
I have the 2140 (1.6ghz) clocks to about 2.8 on stock cooling and got mine on 3.2ghz with better cooler.

cost me about 40 quid when they first came out, so this is a sweet price for the 2.0ghz version

i3's will be out soon too ;) Taking over from the celery line I guess.

Damn - shame I missed this. The GF's PC is a crappy Celeron D (which despite the D is actually single core!) so this would have been a nice cheap upgrade. Hey ho.

It was the D version of the Pentium 4, it followed the C version. That it can also stand for dual-core is just a coincidence.

The Celeron D would have been one of the first socket 775 chips so there's no guarantee you're motherboard would have supported this dual-core core 2 duo anyway.

The motherboard has had in a Q6600, so I'm pretty sure it would manage the Dual Core. It was only because the mobo had died and i bought a replacement while I RMA'd the other,s o ended up with 2 Socket 775boards.......
