I agree great price but a toaster is a toaster unless this one turns the TV over or does the washing.which I can clearly see it doesn't.no heat

You could say that to every single product in the world. Voted hot to counter the nonsense.

You clearly know nothing at all about toasters, their quality or how long they last. These things will last 20+ years, quite possibly for 50 years. They're beautifully designed, look great in a quality kitchen and give a lot of pleasure. Try getting any of that out of your £5 Morphy Richards. :)

I have added heat as this toaster is value for money... I purchased this type (with matching kettle) in 2000!!!! Used every day since, never needed repair or order parts, and both kettle and toaster still going strong as of today .. !!!

And even if it does develop a fault at least you can actually order parts. Every other toaster brand is classed as disposable outside of warranty.

Actually we've never had a dualit that's last more than maybe 5 years, you are paying for the name and the looks. The current one burnt itself out and tripped the whole house's power and it wasn't even 3 years old.

And the cheapo ones will blow their fuses, Dualits actually seem to blow the whole elements, not to mention a lot of the cheap ones have wider and longer toasting slots and they have handy cleaning drawers at the bottom etc. The expensive toasters really aren't worth the money unless it's from the kind of brands that do professional quality equipment.

Dualit toasters (if you buy the right ones, and not the cheaper ones they do) ARE professional equipment. They're as used in professional kitchens (which is where I first saw them) and they'll stand up to any amount of wear and tear. Everything's easily replaceable, unlike any other toasters, and we're still using one that's more than 30 years old. They're bullet-proof - if you buy the right ones.

At over a 100 even in the sale it was definitely not one of the cheap ones, funnily enough though in 30 years most companies standards change quite a bit, and frankly when it comes to something as simple as a toaster reliability is something that works better with simple and frankly a lot of the cheaper ones even come with 5 year warranties, which is reflective of the fact they are themselves pretty bomb proof. The cheap backups we have for when the expensive(but matching the decor) dualit's break work every time they come out the box and have been to the back of beyond and stood up to abuse from being borrowed to go in student digs, camping trips and house moves with no issues, the dualits of the last ten years frankly while some may be ok in general I can't say the quality has been anywhere close to acceptable for the money they charge. If I was buying professional equipment that can't stand up to a few years of domestic use(as the might pile of dualit junk our family has attests to) I would be pretty unhappy.

They aren't even easy to repair, I'm a fair hand at electronics and can repair something as simple as a toaster in my sleep, so far I've never managed to fix any of our duallit toasters or kettles as when they go they seem to self destruct in spectacular fashion.

You seem to be suggesting that the Dualit toasters that you had were complicated. But the British made "Classics" are remarkably simple. What do they have electrically in them? Three elements, a switch, a timer, all simply bolted to the chassis, and some cabling with spade bit connectors. How would completely refurbishing one be any sort of challenge to anyone with a modicum of electrical competence? Maybe you were sold the cheaper Chinese models and got suckered on the price?
