The quintessential British toaster. This is a 4 slice model with mint green finish. The toasting controls include timer and slot switch for two or four toasting slots can be activated. You can buy sandwich toasting cages and a warming tray for this model on our main Dualit page, where you'll also find this toaster in a range of other finishes.

Not to be confused with the cheaper Dualit Lite toaster range, this is the cheapest 4 slice Vario in the country by a large margin, plus you get free delivery and a free gift of either a Coolmovers Whisper Jug or a 6 Piece Ciroa Indigo Mug Set.

This price is only on the 'Mint Green' model. But as it's metal, I'll be removing the paint and making it highly polished.

That's one expensive toaster mate! :w00t: Why is this so much compared to a Kenwood 4 slice toaster which is about £25?

this is really for commercial use as will go all day every day for years. Its the lexus of toasters :-D
#3
Because it's a solid, well-built toaster that will last a lifetime. This is a good price for a dualit, clearly not everyone wants to spend a lot on a toaster, but the same applies to a lot of other deals on here.

Got this one at work. Does nice thick toast when it works, but quite frankly i expect more and better elements! It takes about 4-5 minutes to toast a slice very lightly!

Very good price for a 4-slice Dualit.

Looks like it's £167.45 at Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dualit-Toaster-Mint-Green-42172/dp/B0000TZ8LW/

We got a 4 slice Dualit toaster about 5 years ago as a Xmas pressie.

I dont know what it is but there is just something about using it thats really, really satisfying.

I think its in the same category as the old original Land Rover.

[*]It aint the cheapest
[*]it aint the fastest
[*]it doesnt have bells and whistles

But its owners love it and to them its the best.

I know its just a toaster but.....................

You mean that it was designed in the 1950's, bit's fall off and they leak oil everywhere?;-)

This is ENORMOUSLY cheap, you can barely get a 2-slice version for this price, hot hot hot!

I have a 2-slice version and it is fantastic and well worth the money, got fed up of cheap toasters breaking in 12 months and toasting poorly and am very please with mine.

Dualit toasters simply make the best toast.

This looks a good price though. Having said that, I picked up our one from a boot sale for £2.00! It's the all chrome one with three slots. polished up a treat. Had to buy the toasting cage to go with it from J lewis though, and that was £12.00 by itself!

A thing of beauty. :)
But note that the description is wrong. This is the 4-slice Vario model which will only do 2 or 4 slices.
You can only select 1, 2 or 4 on the Combi model, which also comes with toasting cage.

You're right - even the pic on the website is of the Combi... have editied.
#15
yes, they are good, used to use one in the last house I lived in - although my new £4.95 one from Argos has been doing ok for the last 6 months as well.

Great price for an excellent quality piece of kit

I wish I could justify paying this price but OH would not be happy! Good find voted hot

That's why I asked the question before voting either way. Personally, it's a name I'm not familiar with and certainly don't like the mint green, but only because it wouldn't go in my kitchen.

I've had my Kenwood 4 slice for about 4 years now. Used every day morning and night, but didn't realise toasters could get this expensive.

Don't understand this - the website description does say it does 1,2,4 slices - is the website wrong?

This is a great deal.
I bought the Combo 4 slice in chrome with two toasting cages for about £135 in Costco about 2 years ago and they're stil a similar price (inc vat) there now.

I must admit - I do not consider it to be the best toaster in the world, and I do wonder if I bought the £5 ones from asda I could buy 27 of them for the same price! I find it toasts the bread on the inner two slots better than the outside ones, but the combi switch doesn't let you select just these particular two. Also - the only toasted sandwiches you can make without them sticking to the element shields inside are wafer thin ham or thinly sliced cheese on thin sliced bread! Even toasting M&S crumpets is a pain!

It's a good solid piece of kit, but overall I wouldn't recommend one for a domestic environment - it's great for churning out loads of toast slices - be them unevenly browned, but not so good in your kitchen!

I've voted the deal hot however as it's a great price for the model.

I'm as tight as a camel's sphincter in a sandstorm, but this is a top quality item at a reduced price.

Voted hot.

Just been looking for toasters and these are mile more expensive than this usually but i could think of a million things to spend my money on before i needed an £80 toaster. (voted hot)
#26
Design classic AWESOME, just wish it was a 2 slice one.

It's still a MEGA hot deal though :)
#27
I haven't got this brand but have the Breville TT33. That was over £80 and it is excellent. People with cheap toasters don't know what they are missing. Best toast and crumpets ever. This will be just as good if not better. If you can spare the money I'd recommned buying a top of the range toaster. You won't be disappointed.
#28
I have a 2 slice Dualit toaster and everyone says my toast is the best they've ever tasted. I bought it from Robert Dyas, £39. 99 about 3 years ago. I had never heard of Dualit before but the assistant in the shop said they were the 'Rolls Royce' of toasters.
#29
Before any of you go mocking this deal, remember a toaster is for life not just for christmas.

I fear you may be right - I'd guess they're taking far more orders than they can actually fulfill.

Thanks for the deal, though - confirmation of dispatch eagerly awaited, but with some doubts. :whistling:

I have the 4 slice in chrome bought from JL 5 years ago via our wedding list. Looks fab in the kitchen and I want the overpriced magimix kettle to sit next to it. I don't expect to have to buy another ever again.
#32
I have the 2 slice version in stainless steel, wouldn't buy another, well built but very over priced. If you have the switch on one slice when you put 2 slices in (Easily done), the second slice comes out toasted on one side! The middle element heats up on BOTH sides when you want to toast one slice, what a con and a wast of electricity. At least at this price I would expect it to function correctly, Suspect this 4 slice toaster would have the same problem. Don't bother, buy a cheaper toaster.
#33
also you have to turn them off at the plug socket if your toast is burning as you are not meant to leave the toaster toasting without any bread in it (and then forget to switch them back on again and end up with untoasted bread next time)

No you don't. You just flick the timer off when the toast is done. No need to switch off at the socket until you are finished using it and put it away.

Somebody complained about a waste of electric when there is one slice in. That's because the 2 slice uses three elements and actually saves electricity by not isolating across the divide.

I don't much like the mint green, I only like the chrome ones and I suspect the mint green is the reaon it's cheap. These don't necessarily make the best toast but they are the most convenient to use in a busy kitchen when you have you hands full with multi-tasks. Simple, straighforward non nonsense and built like a tank.

Hot.

You can get dualit kettles if you want to be matching!

BOILING HOT! I know this seems a lot for a toaster but they are British-built industrial-quality that last a lifetime. You could buy several £25 ones for the time this will last you. I paid more than this for a 2-slice model. They are also a style icon and look great in the kitchen! Heat and rep added.

Also please remember, rate the deal not the product. This is a fantastic price for this product, so even if you wouldn't personally pay this much for a toaster, you rate on whether this is a good price for this product considering what you'd usually pay - and it is.

A 4-slicer one of these is usually at least £140, so this is £50 off and it's very difficult to get any sort of discount on these,

Heat and rep from me.

Seems to be going into the basket at £133.95 now (even the mint green one) - game over?

Just had e-mail saying that : Good morning,

Due to high demand we have just sold out of the last of the Dualit 4 Slice Mint Green Toasters and unfortunately I have just been informed by the supplier that they are currently out of stock with them and that we are no longer able to stock them at the special offer price of £89.82. I have spoken to the Managers regarding this issue and they have allowed me to offer you a 10% discount off any other toaster in the Dualit range if you would like an alternative. My sincere apologies for the inconvenience. We were expecting a large order due to arrive on Friday however they have just informed us of this situation this morning.

This is garbage, and not very believable. They've still got enough stock to sell at £133.95, I see. Loosely translated it means:

Sorry - we ****ed up. However, as we're not at all interested in sorting the problem out to keep our customers happy, you can go hang. Oh, and by the way, we make a huge margin on these toasters, so we'll give you a tiny bit of it just to tempt you to buy one anyway.

Or maybe:

Sorry - we had a load of toasters to shift. We just thought if we got enough people onto the site by offering a price we weren't prepared to honour some of them might buy one anyway for a tiny discount off our huge margin.

A company to avoid if they behave like this. Good companies take the hit to keep their customers happy - that way they get more business. Bad companies don't care about cutomer goodwill - but they don't last long!
