This is the new shape 'Lite' Dualit, more closely resembling the 'Classic'. It's not a huge reduction from the standard price, but a good price anyway. It has very wide slots, and the bagel function to toast on one side. This is just what I've been looking for, not wanting to spend near £200 on the classic, but not liking the long shape of the older 'Lite' 4-Slice. The 5% voucher code is displayed on the page - SDAKW5, it states this expired 9/12/09 but worked when I tried it today.

I hope it's of some use to other HUKD'ers.

Toasters rarely get well received on here. I can;t see this one being an exception.

You would have more chance posting a £50 HDMI cable.
#2
What exactly does this do? tea , coffee
#3
reasonable to expect that the more you pay, the more efficient the toaster would be, ..sadly not the case!

sorry i have had basic toasters from asda and tesco that cost anywhere from £8 to £12 and sometimes they cook toast BETTER than these expensive ones.

It's toast, doesn't it all taste the same:?

I had a 30 quid toaster and now have a Dualit, both toasted the bread the same, but my Dualit looks a whole lot nicer in my kitchen:thumbsup:

People seem to forget that this is certainly quality over quantity. You buy one of these toasters and it lasts 10 years.

Bought one nearly 12 years ago and has lasted in a house full of students and ever since, any repairs you can do yourself.

I can't comment on the price (seems good for a 4 slice but it is a shame its not the classic design) but the people who vote cold justify it by saying 'you can get a toaster for a tenner.' It is true you can but you will buy many toasters over the same length of time that Dualits last.

If they were that confident of their build quality and lastability, why don't they include a ten year warranty with it to justify the price, then maybe people would consider buying them

Problem is, everything can fail, or not last as long as you expect, my cheap 10 quid toaster has lasted more than 10 years, but whats to say that this one won't go wrong in 3 years? if it does, without a guarantee, then you are back to square one anyway.

I am not sure to be honest. They are (or at least were) all hand built and are made up of few parts so are easily repaired....kind of like a mini!

I was sceptical at first thinking it was extortionate to pay over £100 for a toaster but believe me these things last, hence why they are used in many cafes and restaurants

No probs. Although I wouldn't buy one now, chances are I have put the kiss of death on these and anyone that buys one expecting it to last ages will find that it breaks within 3 weeks!!

No it doesn't. I've had some awful toasters in my time and I don't think I've ever had two that toasted quite the same. The best ones I had were made in Britain when Britain made things but most of the British names are made in China now as is my current £14Tesco jobby.

The trouble these days is that it's difficult to have confidence in practically anything you buy and on that basis I'd find it hard to justify spending £70 on a toaster which might turn out to be less than wonderful. You get five toasters for that money in Tesco.
#11
You can get a commercial smart one for this price and it will last forever!
#12
We're all aware that toasters can be got for less than a tenner, just as you can a blender or rice cooker. The difference is, a toaster generally sits in plain view on your kitchen worktop, if you've just bought a new kitchen then this isn't so much to pay for a quality toaster that looks the part.

And I'd be very interested to know what brands of commercial toaster can be bought for less... Lincat, Valera and Burco are all commercial brands and cost far more than this!

Indeed,no way would i have a smart price appliance on my worktop even if it toasted better:thumbsup:

I still don't get how it can toast any different though, the size thing i get as Warbies don't fit in a lot of toasters, but i don't have toast that often and it all tastes the same to me,

Some toasters make dryer toast, some over do the corners

Dualit will offer a 10 year guarantee when people stop poking a knife down the slot to remove a oversized bagel or nobby slice............it just aint gonna happen...........you only get a dualit as a wedding present from a rich uncle......

my wifes got one at work & it's deemed awful amongst the staff, who obviously don't necessarily treat it like their own possessions, the replacement parts it often has needed are not cheap whatsoever.

I like to keep my toaster in a roll out cupboard as it free's up space for actual cooking & baking on the work-tops, bought ours for £5 new at auction 4-5 yrs ago (inc vat & premium) ..couldn't justify this money for something that just makes toast, not in these times.

yeh but some comments sound like they are from dumb dumbs who would struggle to work out how to turn on a light

Don't kid yourself.... dualit toasters really don't live up to expectations.

Plus, for the six 1-star reviews there are twenty 5-star reviews.

lol

Its hard to get a good toaster, I'm on the hunt for one myself I was going to one from this brand, but read a few horror stories on review sites so hmmmmmm I'll be giving them a miss. I have used the classic and it does toast miles better than cheap rubbish. £8 toaster is fine mwhahahahahahaa yea right! I got an £8 had an £8 one before and they are rubbish. Cant wait until I get a good one :-)

And you think that is a good proportion of buyers...There are also 3 3star reviews from disappointed buyers....so nearly half of the reviews slate this brand.

Twenty 5-star reviews, plus one 4-star review,
against
three 3-star reviews (which is technically neutral) plus six 1-star reviews

Yes I think that's a pretty good proportion.

But besides anything else, those reviews are for a £160 Dualit Classic, not the £75 Dualit Lite posted here.

No-one's forcing you to buy it. It's the cheapest online price for a brand new model. If you don't like it, vote cold and move on.

But have a good Christmas :santa:

Sincerely.

But the 3 star reviewers aren't being neutral....they are slagging it off.

#30
Do you know what... I have one of these and it produces toast!
#31
I have the same toaster as in the OP but the 2 slice version and i can honestly say hand on heart i've never had any of the problems some people have had in the reviews such as uneven browning etc.

But this review made me laugh, how can the kettle be worse,it boils water, how can there be a problem with that, what a nutter lol

We have now had this toaster for two years and the only thing that has stopped me replacing it is how much it cost. Toast is striped - burnt in some places, hardly touched in others. Timing is hit and miss. We did get the Dualit kettle as well and that was even worse - I did replace that for a cheap and cheerful Morphy Richards which doesn't look as smart but does the job much better.
#32
The four slice Dualit classic style toaster was £129, inc. VAT, if I recall correctly, in Costco last week.
#33
I dont think these cheaper dualit toasters are actualy made by dualit.............not like the more expensive ones
#34
Do you people think people just buy things for the hell of it and think its just for looks?

These toasters do cook toast better. I dont know why but they toast the toast differently, Ive had millions of **** toasters from tesco and the ones from dualit are properly done all over and are more toasted. Why this is I dont bloody know but youre an idiot if you think there arent better quality.

Its a bit like saying all ovens are the same, all hobs are the same, go try one and see rather than speculating.

However, bare in mind this is the budget version so its not really a proper one so they dont work as well. I wouldnt get the budget one.

PS: they also last a hell of a long time.

Bought a Dualit lite after watching review on the gadget show, about £60, lasted 14 months, just 2 months longer than the warranty.
Not saying that they are better or worse than anything else, but I had a bad one.
