I think you have to click on a link from an email you get from qatar airways when you subscribe to thier email notifications.

Website only lists GBP241 (on special)

Aren't foreigners fleeing Dubai?

A similar deal was posted the other day, but I think this price does not include fees and/or taxes. The true cheapest is £241.

The price of £207 does include all fees and taxes. I've tried it out myself until the point of selecting dates/flights and entering my CC details. For those of you who can't get £207 (with the valid dates) I will post the link from the promotional email i got from Q airways showing £207.

We were in Dubai same time last year (during schools half-term) and it was a lovely holiday (for a family of 5). There is a lovely beach near Burj Al-Arab hotel (the famous 7 stars hotel) and we were able to swim in February (temperature was 25+ the whole week). We didn't have swim-wear or beach-toys for the kids but everything was available there cheaply.

Shopping centres are fantastic - they've had the Dubai shopping festival (normally in January and February) and there were discounts and prize draws everywhere.

If foreigners fleeing Dubai that's good for holiday makers. As far as I'm aware, foreigner employees and investors are the ones fleeing Dubai not holiday makers.

It's a relaxation holiday as there isn't much to see or do in Dubai other than the shopping centres really. If you're into that and like seeing a different culture I would highly recommend a holiday in Dubai. For £207 you can't go wrong.

We stayed in Sharjah as it was much cheaper, which is only 12 kilometers from Dubai. With a hire car, It takes literally 10 minutes to go from Sharjah to Dubai.

If anyone have any questions, msg me and I'll do my best to help.

I don't know what side of dubai you saw last year, but there is so much more to dubai than just shopping. To start with theres the Wadi water park, indoor ski slope (real snow), Dubai Creek Golf club, Sand dune safari in a landcruiser, private boat cruise on the creek or the regular commuter one for 50 fils (half a dirham), the old souk (market) buzzing with colour, activity, and back street bargins, you don't have to stay at the many 5-7 star hotels to enjoy a buffet meal at their themed restaurants. And now on to the things they're are making: dubai tower (the worlds tallest building), a grand prix race track, and in the pipeline an amusement park like disneyland and potentially the size of Birmingham city. Not to mention a world class metro/tube system.

Beach holiday in an Arabic country outside North Africa in the middle east? :whistling: At least try Turkey, it's a lot better in every way specially if you can sail their varied scenic Med coasts. As for the mind numbing shopping malls, creepy hotel lobbies, highways and byways, etc. built and maintained on the exploitation of poor workers and maids from abroad who are maltreated or even abused in many ways? They'd have to pay me a lot of money just to visit. Dubai is earmarked for complete collapse in the next couple of years and the process has already started.

Pessamistic view, but I agree. Who else would spend millions building roads out into the desert to just end at the 3rd dune on the left?
Don't go a bag on the flights either nothing direct.

dont mock dubai...its one of a few islamic states where u can buy booze/gamble/rent prostitutes and hear the call for prayer( to get that feel of culture!!) :?
#21
40 years ago it was a nice authentic fishing village and I do prefer the ruling family as compared to the much more oil rich one next door in Abu Dhabi for being more open minded and hope they survive to develop further after the next few years though a bottom up grassroots model not based on petrodollars is what the poor Arab masses need outside the oil rich Persian gulf emirates.

not quite an 'Islamic' state then , just like most 'western' countries :whistling:

This deal is not expired. as the T & C's says: book until 12th March 2009.
I would also like to mention that Dubai is a haven for British muslims/families because for the ones who adhere to eating only Halal food, going on holiday to other destinations can be a pain in the rear trying to get halal food. In dubai all the fast food joints like McD's, BK, Pizza Hut and KFC are halal aswell as all restaurant and hotel food . Food from these places that these people would not buy from when back in the UK.

Dubai has been known as the Las Vegas of the middle east. Except in LV you don't get so many russian and philipino hookers hanging around hotel lobbys/bars.

I totally agree with u mate.. but there nearly all halal in birmingham and Bradford also and i dont have to leave england and mix with expats from the home counties who reckon there cut above everybody else even though they would be nothing if they were in england still...but i would rather go to Oman or Qatar which still has a sense of culture an identity and has nothing with the words.....'the biggest in the world' attached to it
